Default Home-made Turntable! You gotta see this!

Baasner turntable

The vinyl nutballs on LP magazine bring along a reader's turntable to each High End show and this time around they had the most extreme example yet. The Baasner turntable is a festival of stainless and acrylic and features a parallel tracking arm that floats in water, a syringe is supplied in order to adjust VTA, naturally. Other features include shields to deflect air movement and nylon thread drive via pulleys too numerous to count.

A friend of mine sent me a link from a British review site covering the Munich 2007 High End Show. Some really cool stuff . Here's the link:

Looks like an Espresso Machine. I am sure Thomas Edison is truning in his grave. I prefer this 1899 invention.

I completely agree BD.

Can you imagine dusting that thing?

It does however show there's more ways than one to do things!

The Edison model is more enviromentally friendly. It has a nice handle that you can use to save energy.

There are plenty of crazy (sorry, I meant passionate) turntable designers around.

John, you should change the name of your thread to Exotic Turntables.

Is this a guitar or a turntable?

Is this an Ipod or a turntable?

Is this a faucet or a turntable?

Is this a horse or a turntable?

I don't even know what this one is?

See many more exotic and wacky turntables:

Rich,

When are you going to invite us over for a test?

Once the TT is delivered and broken in, please let us know about your experience.

No problem. First issue is the question about the just delivered Strain Gauge Phono Preamp (seems to be missing something on the rear).

Next issue is re-plating the brass for the Turntable and the Tonearm (wasn't finished properly). Then the delivery of the Turntable parts followed by the assembly and installation. Will keep everyone in the loop.

Rich
