Marantz but there are other companies with high grades or very good remarks or reviews such as: accuphase/coda/legacy/wavevac/vincent/luxman and mcintosh with many others as well.

Is carver back producing for the consumer market again ?

Sunfire, McIntosh, Pass, BAT (always good but out of my range), Krell, and Mark Levinson.

As you see from my signature - I have a soft spot for the old Yamaha M series amps also!

I am considering a Integra processor to use with my Rotel-RMB1095 amp.

May I ask you your thoughts and critique of the Integra in comparison to some of the other processors you've used? I realize that this might be the wrong forum, so feel free to email me at BKSinAZ@yahoo.com if so.

No Van Alstine fans here? Not exactly a main line brand, but very satisfying performers in my book. I have 3 of his amps and one of his preamps, with another hybrid preamp on order. My Onk 5007 runs movies fine. But for critical music listening, I am a real AVA fan.

I'm a big fan of Rotel for amps, but not pre amps. For some reason they just can't produce pre amps without lots of bugs.

Your wait is near an end. McIntosh will be shipping the MX150 Processor this March. Decodes all HD audio formats for a mere $12,000. Cannot wait to match it up with my new McIntosh amp. I have been using my Denon 4308 as a pre-amp.

The most shocking news from McIntosh was when they introduced their new DLP projector. When I read the news in the Home Theater Magazine, I fell out of my chair.

The projector is called MDLP2 and costs $18,000 and uses Texas Instruments DC4 chip.

What is next? Budget HTIB from McIntosh sold at Wal-Mart.

I pre-ordered all their units. You have to wait at least 6 months.

Got to be the classic 86pd. Technics SE-A5MK2 power amp pushing 300 wpc able to peak 1500wpc.A good match is the SU-A200 preamp with 14 inputs and digital direct.

Default Marantz

Marantz PS-17SA processor, with inbuilt two channel amp. The in built amp drives the two surround back speakers.
Marantz SM-17SA, two channel amp with bridging to mono. I have five of these which I use in bridged mono mode.

These are a few years old now.
They do lack processing to the very latest specifications of DTS and Dolby.
However, the processor has 7.1 outputs, with the rear surrounds as left and right EX!
Also, the processor has 5.1 inputs to accept decoded audio direct from your blu-ray player.
These are finished in champagne gold and look real nice.

The most beautiful lush sound I ever heard. You can play this very loud with no stress and no harshness. As a matter of fact I am losing my hearing because I play my movies so loud!

It would have to be Anthem, Classe, Sunfire, Rotel and Parasound. I still have a soft spot for Adcom which i had for over 10 years!!!

for amps, I have liked all that I have owned personally:

NAD
Parasound
Rotel
and now
Wyred4Sound (http://www.wyred4sound.com/)

I sort of soured on the high end companies when it comes to modern day processors (though not analog pre-amps). Everything has gotten so complicated that I've found them to be buggy so I am using a Denon AVR as my processor (and even that has bugs)... I am starting to think things will be this way forever now as they add, develop, or change standards.

So, I'm FURIOUS that I missed out by a few hours a Craigslist deal for a Parasound 1000a and 1500a for $350 for BOTH!!!!

Now I'm deciding between a Marantz SM6100SA and a Rotel RB-850. Both are around 50Wx2. I'm lurking throughout Audiogon for something to power my KEFs, but around $250 or less. Used isn't so bad, you know.

I'm also looking at Adcoms, which have a great reputation and a huge following.
