Default Flat Panel Mounting Height?

Is there a set standard in how far off the ground you mount a flat panel tv or is it personal preference?

I have seen some low and high on the wall. My mount is already on the wall and the center of the tv is exactly 4 feet - 6 inches off the floor. My viewing distance is 8 feet and the angle from the sofa to the tv is roughly 15 degrees.

To me, this seems good. It also seems good for when I am playing Wii tennis and other stand up games. Seems like a perfect height for me. Our Samsung plasma is also mounted at the same height upstairs over the fireplace.

Default great question!

I just bought a 65 inch sharp LCD and I have been wondering the same thing. Hopefully we will get some responses. Neil

I think generally speaking they suggest have the middle of the screen at eye level, from veiwing position.

If you want to mount the television higher they suggest not exceeding the bottom of the screen being at eye level.

I have my 50" kuro mounted so that the eye level is about 10" from the bottom of the plasma frame, and the tilt is very slightly down--probably only 2-3 degrees.

I think mine is almost the same. 50" Panasonic and the bottom of the frame is at eye level or lower.
