Default Flat panel mounting height

I know that the OPTIMUM mounting height would be center of screen to eye level of sitting position, but I was just wondering what others are doing if you CANNOT mount your TV at that height.

My question stems from a future speaker upgrade which will force my plasma to be wall mounted with the bottom edge at about 40 inches from the ground. It just so happens that 40 inches is also eye level from my sweet spot. Therefore, my TV's center will be about 15 inches ABOVE eye level. Additionally, wall mounting the TV will put my viewing distance to about 9 feet versus my current 7.5 feet.

So, outside of my above rambling. Where is everybody's height on their wall mounted TV?

I've got mine mounted at 42" from the floor to the bottom of the TV. I had to do that to clear my stand and center channel speaker. Now that it's up I like it a lot better than having it centered at eye level. Of course I sit back and have my feet propped up so I'm in a semi reclined position while watching movies. Also on the plus side, my center channel is right at ear level.

Good point!

I just did a quick measurement and all three front speakers will be at about the same height -- fronts (40.2") and center (40.5") versus 24" with the B&W stand. I could probably put the fronts on something to raise them the quarter inch, but will wait to see them all together.

Heck, maybe I'll do the center next year as my wife suggested versus the following year.

Thanks, Rob!
