Default Fed Ex, Do Not Use them to ship anything!!

Ok so here's the dilemma, I shipped over 200 things between Nov 28 2008 to December 04 2008 via Fed Ex. I insure everything as well as add tracking and signature to solidify the online transaction. I entrusted Fed Ex to safely deliver these packages and ensure their safe and speedy Holiday delivery. Well people beyond my control made off with now 17 packages. Its a daily thing now, more and more are coming in with no tracking other than acceptance where I dropped them off.

Ultimately I cannot do anything about it as far as the police as I am not the victim, Fed Ex is since they are insured but await out the claims process and wait for my checks. We are now talking over 6,000.00 in claims on these and pissed off customers who wanted these for Christmas. So far i have made amends and reshipped the ones that needed reshipped and refunded those who wished to cancel.
My biggest beef is Fed Ex is in no way concerned about this at all. They have no sense of speed in expediting the claims process and have not even called to ask what the heck is going on.However I did get a $2,000.00 bill from them for freight charges on the successfully delivered tracking numbers(I usually pay by credit card but they are so dang dumb they tried charging 150+ 10-15.00 charges to the card and the card froze up as Chase only allows 30 charges a day from the same merchant)

Anyways Total BS and if anyone sees any cheap wiis for sale in the PA area, may wanna check the serial # as they are probably stolen and may have been entered as stolen.

BTW here are the tracking #s

FedEx has boned me a couple times, and tried to deliver two very expensive packages to the wrong address. Thank goodness a signature was required! The stupid thing is, all my non priority packages got here fine. It was just the big ones. The attempted delivery address on my A900 was not even close to my actual address, and my correct address was on the box twice!

well i filed a BBB complaint as well as contacted my attorney general in VA. not sure its worth the effort but this really bothers me just how little they care about what happened. I guess if I just trusted them and they hadnt been insured I would have just been totally screwed

I always try to ship with UPS as much as I possibly can when purchasing online. I rarely see a FedEx truck in my neighborhood, come to think of it.

Unfortunately the other alternative, UPS is slightly WORSE than FedEx.

This is really wrong and they should do something about it but probably won't considering the number of temps they hired for the holiday rush.

I have to say that my experience with UPS has been stellar (nothing lost). For that matter I haven't had issues with FedEx although I'm sure I don't use them as much as you or others.

I do have to say that DHL was the worst for me as they have lost several things and really didnt care either. I guess they are out of the US now but they were definately sub-par.

Imagine my shock when I ordered my Sony BDP S300 back in the day, direct from Sony, and paid extra for expedited shipping. It was supposed to be at my house at 10 AM.

I gave up at 4PM, went to get some groceries, came home, and the by-golly-got-DAM the thing was sitting on my front porch.

Broad daylight.

$500.

No signature. I think the driver didn't even get out of the truck, just shot-putted the thing up there, and took off.

So here's a big-ass box with a FedEx sticker on it, says SONY BLU-RAY PLAYER on it, the only thing missing was another sticker saying, FREE TO THE FIRST PERSON WHO SPOTS IT.

Another time, one of the techs that works for my company was issued a new cell phone, they shipped it FedEx. The guy lives in an apartment in East L.A. So the telecomm guys call him a week later, says, why haven't you activated your phone. Guy says, what phone.

Everybody does the runaround, track it down, says, it was delivered at 11AM on such and such a day. The guy says, I'm a tech, I'm not at home at 11AM on a weekday, why did you donate my phone to whoever came along?

It's nuts. It's the main reason I hate mail order, unless it's US Mail.

This leaving packages on the doormat/front porch in broad daylight is what really shocks me. I stopped using UPS and FedEx for this very reason. They consider that a delivered package??? I don't seem to have this problem with USPS but I'm sure they are probably guilty of it as well.

Unhappy Sorry to hear that!

I don't ship anywhere near the volume you do, but I eBay quite a bit and got fed up with FEDEX years ago.

I now use UPS and USPS exclusively. Between the two I can feel safe that people are getting their stuff and I won't have to file claims and replace lost merchandise.

I hate FedEx with a passion. Last year my mom ordered a computer tower, from eBay, it came via FedEx. My house number is 603, this guy leaves the box across the street at 605. If you cannot tell the difference between a 3 and a 5 then I am sorry but you are a moron. We called FedEx, they said that the driver worked for a company that subcontracted them. We called the manager of the company who subcontracted, they said they will send the driver back. about 30 minutes later some guy shows up, no FedEx uniform, nothing, in his personal car. Funny how he found our house this time huh? He says that the label on the box was damaged. Then leaves shortly after that. We go across the street to try and get our box which was quite heavy as well. No one is home, alright we'll try again tomorrow.

This is Saturday now, we go across the street and ring the doorbell, no one answers, We know that they have relatives in the house behind them, so we ask if anyone will be home soon. Apparantly the woman that lives across from us, her son, got the box, said he took it inside.

He took the box inside alright, inside their garage, where my mom and I followed his aunt, and put the box underneath several other boxes.

The FedEx guy claimed the label was damaged?? The label was perfectly fine, it was adressed properly, and everything, this guy is in his mid 20's, i have seen him before. His aunt has been on the phone the whole time, and she asks why he had the box there. He said that he thought his mother bought a computer. The box, when we brought it back finally, had my moms name and address also printed very large on all sides of the box in black marker. You can't trust anyone these days, it is really sad.

My mom and I both swore up and down to the FedEx guy that this 'neighbor' would never do anything like that.

UPS is no better, I ordered a ton of stuff from Amazon a couple weeks ago, they came in a bunch of boxes, he leaves the stuff on my front steps and drives off, doesnt ring the doorbell, knock, nothing. I am getting sick of these guys and it keeps me from ordering online, even though there are some really great deals, it isn't a great deal if I can't get what I ordered!

Anyway, sorry for the long rant, and I am REALLY sorry jwbbud. I hope you can get that sorted out.

Lucky. I have to stalk the FedEx guy every time I'm unfortunate enough to use them. Otherwise they just never knock and leave a hanger and split. No music, no nothing until they show up so I don't miss the truck

Hey JW,

Really sorry to hear that. I 'm guessing it's the Dark Knight Steels and Clone wars your talking about? I'm a shipping manager for a very large company and Maybe it depends on who you talk to but I pretty much went from using FED ex and UPS 50/50 to UPS 90% FedEx 10% all while heading towards a UPS usage of 100% over the last year.

Both companies 'lose' things or however you want to phrase it but With Fed Ex it's gotten completely ridiculous. Not only that but with our local fed ex office we can't depend on the drivers to show up on time, if at all over the last year. and I consistently get 5 or 6 calls on a daily basis complaining about FED ex not delivering on time or not delivering at all compared to the 1 time a WEEK we get from UPS for the exact same thing.

well I personally went to the hub/terminal where they were last scanned. We (the manager and I)figured out based on everything I shipped that it all disappeared off the trailer # scanned to got to the PA facility. Nothing going to Hagerstown, MD disappeared, making it obvious where the problem occured. Its disappeared betweeen the loader scan from Winchester to PA. Whether it was the unloader, driver or what, It happened twice on 2 different dates to the same facility. So he said that makes 2 pretty solid suspects, the driver and the unloaders at the PA hub.

and no its was gaming consoles, almost 6200.00 worth

That's just wrong to do during the holidays. I hope they catch them and prosecute.

Thats why I always have stuff shipped to my work. I cant trust delivery persons just leaving stuff on my front doorstep allowing anyone to take em. For work I had to ship out 10 blu-ray players for employees as part of our bonuses, we couldnt wrap the boxes so I did my best to make sure they were insured, tossed a prayer and sent them out lol

I had a halfway good experience with FedEx. Got a package a couple of days ago that I had to sign for. Nobody was home, so they bought it back to the hub. Well, get to the hub, truck isn't there yet, and it's close to closing time. Truck gets there, it's closing time and they lock the doors. Come to find out that they have absolutely no idea where the truck is. The driver didn't scan the parking spot. Yay. 30 minutes of waiting later they come out with my package, the poor guys in the back had to climb in over 100 trucks to find me my package manually going through everything in those trucks. That right there was great customer service. They didn't BS me and try to run me out, they went and found it.
