Default Yamaha HTR-6160

I am new to the audio side of things. I have a new 40 inch Samsung bought 3months ago and I am now starting to look at some receivers and need an opinion. Does anybody have any pros/cons on the Yamaha HTR-6160? I am not looking for top of the line, but on the same token I have never bought the low end of any piece of electronics. Will this be an adaquate purchase or can anybody recommend anything else in the same general price range? Thank you and Merry Christmas to all who reads this.

From what I gathered when I originally got into Yamaha receivers about 10 years ago, the HTR series does not have the strict quality control that the RX series has.

To my knowlege, they are made of the same components but are not tested as thoroughly but are readily available at BestBuy anytime you want one.

I'd stick with the RX series, but the HTR's should withstand anything you throw at them.

Good luck and enjoy.

Welcome to a new world!!!

Background: I own the Rx-V496, the Rx-v1400 and the Rx-V1800
