As many long-time Cohen fans know, he came out of retirement this year to tour to rave reviews. The dvd and Blu-ray will probably be coming out March 23rd of 2009 according to the article. The concert was filmed in high definition at the July 17th show he did in London. I expect this to be a tremendous sounding Blu-ray.

A small update that fans might want to know about. Leonard Cohen will be performing in the U.S. for the first time in fifteen years on February 19th in New York City at the Beacon Theatre. Tickets have already sold out I believe but there are still some available from scalpers.

The cd and dvd have been officially announced for the concert in the original post and are available for pre-order from Amazon. The Blu-ray is still scheduled to come out but will probably show up a couple of months after the dvd release on March 31st. I have some good news and some bad news concerning the Blu-ray of this concert. The bad news is there probably will not be a Blu-ray release of the concert coming out to dvd and cd in March. Now for the good news for Cohen fans, I have heard from reliable sources that a Blu-ray of the best performances from his current world tour will be coming down the line! There is no firm release date yet and plans are not finalized but there you have it.
