Default I thought I would share my recent Home Theatre Mod

When I first bought my Samsung DLP I had it on a stand alone stand that I you see in the picture. I then bought the wall unit some time later. I hated how the stand clashed with the wall unit

I then decided to remove the glass shelf within the stand and put my Sony Subwoofer with the stand and build some sort of cover for the stand but keep it accessable. Placing the sub in the tv stand was very difficult, I had to take apart the stand, remove the glass and then modify the back of the stand so the sub amp had enough clearance.

Then I decided to get some scrap MDF and cut out a frame that was the same size as the TV stand. I then went to Home Depot and got some round disc magnets that are very powerful. I countersunk them in the TV stand and in the wood frame. I then covered it with speaker cloth and tada... A completely accessable unit that looks like a big subwoofer. I think it works rather well and thought I would share...

Much better. How has the sub placement affected the sound?

Love the cabinetry! I too am wondering if the sub rattles in that cabinet or gets overly boomy.

Looks much better.

I had expected that you were going to add some laminate wood grain to the TV.

Very simple little mod that really improves the look. As others have mentioned, hopefully it doesn't affect the sound of the sub too much since it's in an enclosed space.

Looks great though!
