Default Paris, Je T'Aime

Thoughts?

As far as pq goes it varies from short to short... never bad but some do look much better than others.

I liked the movie. However I didn't agree with some of the choices. The stories about parenthood, while perhaps stories of love, feel out of place. And the vampire thing is just random... even I it's great. Those should be bonuses and not part of the actual film.

Paris is a city of love, every story is about love, how are they out of place at all??

With that said I loved this film, picked up the BD last week and it was significantly better than the SD DVD which I rented when it was released.

I thought Paris, Je T'Aime was good but I doubt I will watch it more than one time. The BD PQ/SQ were pretty good too (4/5).

The Blu-ray Disc is lacking compared to other independent films on BD.

The DVD had English subtitles for the French language only and English subtitles captioned for the deaf & hard of hearing.

The BD only has English subtitles captioned for the deaf & hard of hearing. Needless to say the Coen Brothers' segment gets completely ruined by this.

Also, if you don't have Dolby TrueHD equipment, the back up Dolby Digital track is 448kbs only.

A lot of the stories made me feel like I was missing a little something.

I love how it ended but felt her french narration was hard to listen to. Grating for some reason.

thecroshow. they just were for me. if they were going to make it mostly romance it should have been just that. if it was going to be all types of love it should have had more non-romantic.

I went back to have a look and I agree with your assessment. It's a 3.0 star movie (PQ wise).

What was it that was wrong with the Blu-ray that I don't recall now?

Subtitles not the proper ones or something or was that for Let The Right One In? Someone please refresh my memory.

I've read that this release has subtitles that are huge and take up a chunk of the actual image, rather than appearing on the black bars. It's also the hard-for-hearing subtitles, so it translates sound effects and other stuff as well.

I thought the movie had some nice shorts, and I've come close to buying it before. I stopped short purely because of this issue. As it is, I'll just stick with Tokyo!

OHHHHH ok I remember now! That was it. Thanks

I knew it had to do with the subtitles. At least Magnet fixed "Let The Right One In" subs.

Instead of regular English subtitles, this BD only has the English SDH subtitles. A significant problem on a foreign movie in a different language.
