"sleeping Beauty" Audio?

Just watched "Sleeping Beauty" and the PQ is superb, however, I found the DTS-HD lacking. Did anyone else think the audio was recorded at a low volume? I had to really pump up the audio dial?

Yeah My brother put in his copy and we were not all that impressed for it being 7.1. Although I have to admit coming from an original 1.0 -2.0(?) soundtrack it did sound good. Just not that great for a 7.1 DTS MA

Very impressive BD, Sleeping Beauty is. There's a decent chance that what you heard on your high-end home theater may have been equally good, or even superior, to the audio played in 1959. There's only so much you can do to bring an old recording, even made with what was the highest technology of that era. Digital processing for modern dynamics, noise reduction, equalization and frequency response can only be applied so much against the original audio before coloration or other distortion occurs.

Considering this, I thought it was a fine, even, audio production. Certainly not of today's standards, but done as impeccably as could be done given the source material.

The musical aspect was what made it excellent. Dialogue and special effects were recorded on poor source material, which is why they didn't sound too good on Blu. But the music was very clean and well-reproduced, considering its age. It sounds significantly better than the CD release, and this is because the music was newly obtained from excellent source material. You won't have much luck in trying to make the dialogue and special effects sound good.

I still find the overall quality great. Picture and sound go really good together. I enjoyed every second of this classic. Great release for sure.
Don't know if it needs a 7.1 DTS Master. But it was on there so i take it
