Emily Browning to star in erotic thriller "Sleeping Beauty"

IMO, this sounds exactly like Sleeping Beauty crossed with Dollhouse, and just very twisted and not what you could call a feel good movie..........



Emily Browning will find herself trapped in sex trade in her upcoming movie. The Australian actress is set to tackle the lead role in "Sleeping Beauty", which will be directorial debut of Julia Leigh. Her role originally belonged to Mia Wasikowska, but the "Alice in Wonderland" beauty has decided to quit the upcoming project.

Though the title sounds like a Walt Disney's fairy tale, "Sleeping Beauty" is actually a haunting erotic story about "a student who drifts into prostitution and finds her niche as a woman who sleeps, drugged, in a 'Sleeping Beauty chamber' while men do to her what she can't remember the next morning." The film will start shooting in Australia in March.

Emily Browning, who began her acting career when she was eight years old, is best known for her role as Violet Baudelaire in 2004 "Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events". She won the 2005 AFI International Award for Best Actress for her performance in the black comedy which also stars Jim Carrey. She can next be seen playing in Zack Snyder's "Sucker Punch", in which she will share screen with Vanessa Hudgens. Source

I can't wait to see all the protesting women for this movie. Do you remember how many self-righteous people claimed that SuperBad promoted rape, lol. Because they where trying to get girls drunk to score, considering that's what you do in high school, and it's not rape if you're drunk too haha. But I just cannot wait to hear their arguments about this.

You may be right. At first I was thinking it might be just too obscur to actual be notice but then again you can't even be sure what subject people wil lpick next to be offended about

If there is something for the self-righteous to protest, they will protest. It's like P.C.U. when Moonbeam and her fellow protesters just carried around blank picket signs and markers so they are ready for anything.

I think if there is protests for this, and like you said people are often just looking for reason to, it would be great if the director went the Kevin Smith route with Dogma, and showed up to the protest. That was one of the funniest things I had ever heard on the commentary with that movie, that he had gone there and they ended up putting him on camera.

I never heard that, with all the protesting of films, it never hurts the box office, it only ever helps it lol.

The movie sounds interesting. Not a normal film I would see but who knows; when a trailer comes out I might be more enticed.
