Out of the box, mine had "Dynamic Contrast" turned on.
It was bright enough to be used as a area flood light - no joke!
On top of that, brightness/backlight and contrast were disabled(didn't try color, sharpness, or hue/tint)

At this moment, with Dynamic Contrast turned off, everything is set to 50 or 0 - mid point of available settings - and backlight is at 2 of 10.
Most I have needed backlight set to is 4, anything higher *on this set in this room* is too bright.

On my set I have had mine at 83 for awhile which seems fine as max was way to bright for extended viewing and probably not good for the tv. I did try it at 50 but it seemed to dull so I guess every set is different with regards to the backlight. I also turned of the dynamic setting which made everything look oversaturated and colors would bleed and bloom.
