Default My math thread.

If you guys remember, I made a math thread where I told you that my tutor told me I couldn't learn it at this stage and I shouldn't bother.

I figured I should UPDATE and tell you that I got a new tutor and finished the Functions book on my own, and I am sitting at 91%. I am half way through the Calculus 1 book that I don't even take until this summer, and I just cracked the Linear Algebra 2 book. I never did more than 2 minutes of math until this year and I am already into algebra matrix.

You know I love and hate Calculus.

I hate it because you spend half the course learning how to do derivatives by limit. Then they slap you in the face saying "OH YEAH, HERE'S THE EASY WAY"

Got to know the theory before you get to the short cuts.

I know but I was taking AP Physics and AP Calc at the same time with the same teacher so work in both classes took equally long.

Then, it sounds like you learned equally well in both classes.

Congrats to the OP! I'm happy to hear it's going well...

Good for you, I am actually math phobic. It just doesnt come easily to me. I hat it when some tutors make you feel stupid for not understanding it. No one is born knowing.

You just need to see math in the right context and then you will get it. I know plenty of people who didn't like math but once it related to something they are truly interested in they had no problems.

I took AP Calc my freshman year in High school...

12 years later I did not know sh...oot.

Little did I know how much Math I would be doing in Economics.

Boo.

My advice. Dont avoid doing math that does not involve fingers for 12 years.
