Default Newb Question: Onkyo 606/HDMI

I just got the TX-SR606 and I have three inputs for it - TV, Satellite dish and PS3. I noticed the HDMI Out jack, and I'm wondering what kind of cool uses there are for that?

Can anyone advise? DVD recording? CD burning? I've been looking online to find a DVD recorder that has an HDMI input jack, but haven't found any yet.

Normally the output is for the HDMI cable that goes to the TV.

Also, I don't know this for sure, but I don't think the MPAA would be too happy if you were allowed to record stuff off HDMI so I don't think you will be able to hook a dvd burner up to an HDMI out for a very long while, if ever

Yeah...prob not. I keep meaning to clear off my DVR, but I was hoping to find an HDMI input on a DVD burner. I guess it wouldn't matter unless I'm burning in HD.

What do other folks do to burn high-def content from their DVR?

I dont think you can do this, those companies would lose lots of money if we could do that.

LOL!

Friday night brain meltdown! That would make more sense!

I think I was confused because I have been running a pre-HDMI receiver and using optical cables for sound.

This will be so much nicer than my current setup. I've been using optical cables and a Monoprice switch for the opticals and running HDMI straight from PS3/DVR to TV.

Now I'll be able to ditch the optical, decode the TrueHD and I probably won't need to buy any more HDMI cables.

If my HDMI cables are not 1.3, will they still decode TrueHD?
