Default 3 Days of the Condor

3 Days of the Condor - May 19th

UPDATE
As of Spring 2011 The Paramount US edition is OOP
3days.jpg

Paramount is releasing 3 Days of the Condor on May 19th. Specs 1080p video accompanied by a Dolby TrueHD soundtrack.

Hopefully Paramount will continue releasing their BDs with the healthy storage space rates that have been using.

Now if WARNER would release The Candidate (it was reported sometimes ago that Redford recorded a commentary track for a new release, not sure if it will be released on standard dvd only or Blue also)

The dvd is bare bones and there's no listing of a new dvd edition. Which tells me they probably didn't produce any features for this upcoming BD.

Regardless of new special features, I'm very hyped for this release. I hope they start releasing more catalog titles that are of the quality that this one is!

Great film - Redford in his prime.

Other early-mid '70s films I can't wait to see on Blu...
  • Marathon Man
  • Midnight Cowboy
  • Five Easy Pieces
  • All The President's Men
  • Nashville

Yes! NETWORK would be great. Also, The Parallax View, Black Sunday and Slap Shot while we are visiting the 70's.

looks like Paramount is gonna use the cover art from the second issue DVD release.. and it is the yucky bad looking cover art. I don't think the powers that be have any taste in cover art design at all.

and we get the trailer in HD but that is the only bonus. I will be fine with that since Paramount uses healthy encodes and high bit rates lately. Can't wait to see the grain so to speak.

Acording to the DVDbeaver review the image looks solid

http://www.dvdbeaver.com/film2/DVDRe...or_blu-ray.htm

and looks like we get grain!!! I love it and a healthy bit rate!

No extras besides the trailer in HD but I have to buy the Blu ray and support the release I want more classic films like this released. Here is to hoping for ALL THE PRESIDENT'S MEN , KLUTE, NETWORK from WB's!

'I'm mad as hell & I can't take it anymore...' - Whats with WBros/Paramount & these bare bones Blu's, they have these wonderful 2-disc standards yet they treat blu's like red-headed-steps. Still will get CONDOR as it is a personal fav, but seriously, they need to bring the A-game, especially to Sydney's films.

Didn't we already get All The President's Men way back in the early days? In DD 5.1? I can't find it on the site now but I could have sworn...

But yeah, I'll take all of those. And throw in Chinatown, The Deer Hunter, Serpico, The Conversation, Manhattan, Annie Hall, and The Last Detail while you're at it. Was there anything better than American cinema of the 1970s?

You may be thinking of Dog Day Afternoon since it was released on BLU and on DVD it came in a box set with Network and All the President's Men.

The Conversation would be an awesome BD!

This has been one of my favorites since I first saw it way back in 75 in the theater. I have the french import on HD DVD but will get the Blu-ray on day one. Speaking of Redford and Pollock, I want Jeremia Johnson on Blu also.

The Blu-ray transfer is a terrific upgrade over the SDVD.

I agree. The screen caps from CONDOR look just like they should. I’m not big on extras, but something would have been nice. Anyhow, I love it when a catalog title is done right and that seems to be the case here.

Bring on NETWORK!

Well this Movie is blind buy one of the great Paranoia Movies from the 1970s and you've got to love the fact that Sydney Pollack brought a lawsuit against a Danish Televison Company because they screened the Movie in pan-and-scan, i wish every Director would be as protective of his work as he was.

most definitely. if there was a reason for me to buy a blu-ray player, this would be number one for me.

substance wise, this probably has been one of the greatest achievements robert redford has aside from those listed earlier. aside from The Sting, this is probably one of my favorite movies of that era, including The Conversation with Gene Hackman, as well as his role of 'Popeye'...

Great mentionable movies here, id also like to throw in

The Eiger Sanction. (dunno, just a personal favorite aside from this one)
