MGM has U.S. rights for the first film.

I remember this. Wasn't the late Heath Ledger the prime candidate for MAX in this movie?

Great news. Hope it has the original Aussie track on it.

Not a fan of the dubbed version

I hadn't heard about Heath in the role. Only thing I remember is that George Miller was looking to cast a Hollywood 'Unknown' if in fact Mel wouldn't return to the role. Wouldn't it be great if Gibson would take the role and have one last 'go' at Rockatansky though??? I think he'd be 'Mad' not to!

Me too I would rather have Mel back as Mad Max I would have such a hard time seeing someone else in the role of Mad Max

Yeah, they do. Something's fishy with this rumor.

And too bad, because I would LOVE to see the other two 'Mad Max' movies on BD. The first got a spiffy new DVD but 'Beyond Thunderdome' is pretty elderly now, and at any rate even a nice DVD is no match for what 'Mad Max 2' looks like in high def.

After first seeing this movie years ago on BetaMax and buying it in DVD several years later. Finally, BLU will allow me to fully appreciate this childhood favorite of mine.

In addition there is a local theater showing all 3 'Mad Max' movies later this month. March '09 rocks!

MGM has the rights to Mad Max in the US and Canada. Warner has the rights in Europe while Village Roadshow has rights in Australia.

I will probably get grilled for this, but here it goes:

If and ONLY IF Mel Gibson won't return as Max... I think Joshua Jackson do a good job in the role.

I also really want Beyond Thunderdome on Blu but we'll see what happens in the coming months.

In a perfect world, Mel would return to play Max and Fury Road would be an instant classic but I just don't see it happening.

I love the Mad Max trilogy
