Default PS3 Update 1.80 Problem with my Blu-tooth headset

Earlier today I downloaded the 1.80 update for my PS3. I went to play several PS3 games and noticed that my Blu-tooth (BT) headset that used to work perfectly is now not working very well. There is a lot of background noise and my words are cut-off when I talk. This same issue was noticed by my bother who also has a PS3 and did the update as well as two other users I spoke with in a game. I ended up switching to my old Logitech wired headset and the problem was gone. it appears that 1.80 update has adversely affected the use of BT headsets. Not sure what Sony did with the update that would cause this, but I sure hope the fix it soon.

Has anyone else noticed these issues with their BT headset? I even went and did a chat on the PS3 and the backgrund noise, (sounds like screetching) wiht words cutting in and out was there as well.

Try pairing your BT headset again with your PS3 via the BT accessories menu.

Thank you for your advice. I had the same thought, so I went in and paired my BT Headset wtih the PS3 and it had no affect. Still had the same bad audio with words being cut in and out. My brother did the same and did not work for him either. We turend off our PS3's and turned them back this did not help either. There were several other users in games (Resistance and Motor Storm) that had similar problems with their BT headsets after downloading the 1.80 update. I am sure this is just not me as it is affecting others who use BT headsets. Wired headsets do not have this problem. Sure hope Sony knows of this issue and gets a patch out fast to fix t.

Yeah it sounds like its a bug in the firmware. You and your brother should call up Sony tech support and report the problem to them so they can issue a new firmware update that addresses the issue.

Just taking a guess as I don't have a headset, but have you tried a hard power reset with the switch that's on back of the PS3? Also, I'll assume your battery level for your headset is good?

For sake of not starting another topic, does anyone know if it's normal under 1.8 for the Sixaxis controller to turn off when quiting or starting PS2 games? I'm selecting the "quit game" option not "turn off the controller" for GT4 to be specific. It's not a major issue though. I just don't recall having to press the PS button so much in the past.

It is normal, when you play ps2, it will turn off, and you have to press PS on controller to turn it on, it only do that with PS2 game (before game start and when you quit game), it is not part of Firmware 1.80, since I played Final Fantasy XII on PS3 2 weeks ago.
