WMP Tools>Options>Library>Configuring Sharing> Allow "Unknown Device"
Even though the device shows up in the PS3s menu I still had to do a scan before I could actually access it. Works great for pictures and music, but video is still kind of sucky since the number of files formats and codecs the PS3 supports is rather low. |

Please note, only Media player 11 only! No feature built in on 9 or 10. Windows has something called media connect 2.0 that basically performed the same basic function for older versions, but I don't think you can download it anymore. That's how they get you to download the most current version of wimp.

Nothing supports WMA lossless, so you're pretty much out of luck unless you can find a server package that converts it to PCM on the fly.

I couldn't get it to work with itunes(even though it has a sharing feature!!!)...only WMP 11.
I used twonkymedia to access my itunes library, but the files(AAC) were unsupported...doh! Streaming mpeg2 files in hd was very choppy and had no audio, but mpeg1's and pictures played great! It's a start! Last edited by UltimateFighter; 05-25-2007 at 03:17 AM. |

The PS3 supports AAC but not AAC Lossless. I know this because I've plugged my iPod before and the AAC files played.
It could be that Twonkymedia is not supporting AAC sharing. fuad |

The help from the SimpleCenter media software I'm using lists AAC as a supported format. Don't have any files here to confirm it works but it's supposed to.

yeah...I think mine are saved in loseless?? I just checked the twonkymedia page and it does look like others can't share the AAC. I just assumed it was the PS3 not able to decode it because it said unsupported format. Weird. Hopefully they'll update their beta to fix this. In the mean time...anybody know how to catalog AAC files in WMP 11?

Ok i figured out how to get WMP 11 to recognize AAC files. You have to download the AAC codec for WMP.... www.3ivx.com. After you search for music files in your folders, that will just dump all of your aac files unsorted into WMP11. If you want to sort them as your Itunes folder has them sorted. You can use a proggy called musicbridge http://www.download.com/MusicBridge/...ml?tag=lst-0-1.
That will sync your WMP library to your Itunes library. Cool stuff! Here's the bad news....the ps3 still says unsupported file type for the files!!!! |

Pretty easy setting up media streaming using WMP11. However, I'm having two problems that I can't find a fix:
1. I'm having is huge overscanning of jpeg pictures on my SXRD A2000. I'm guessing the top and bottom of photos are cut off by about 5%-10%. 2. The PS3 doesn't seem to pick up all the photos in a folder. I normally renumber my photos sequentially and the PS3 doesn't show them, although I can see them in WMP11. As I said, I can't find any options that can fix these problems. Any solutions out there? |
