How much will Fast and the Furious Bring in Opening Weekend? - Blu-ray Forum

I guess it's time to wake up the old thing we did all last Summer. For those of you new to the forum since last year, We all try and estimate how good movies will do at the box office each weekend and also what the top 5 will be. (there's absolutely no prize, just bragging rights)

So what do you think? How much will Fast and the Furious bring in this weekend (early buzz has it at $45million)? And how will the movies stack up?

Well, it'll be between F&F and Adventureland for the top spot. If I were a betting man I'd put my money on F&F as it seems to have had more promotion.

$50 mil. The first one was good and the second one was not half bad. This one seems to resemble the the first two. Also, there has been a lot of advertising for this movie. There is not a lot of movies that will provide competition.

i think 40mil easy
id set my cap at 60mil though, i dont think it will make over that

it will definitly have my 8.50 though

The result today was a $26 million haul from 3,461 theaters for an unexpected opening weekend of possibly $60+M.

(And that's not even counting the Thursday midnight showings which made $1.8M.) That's a whopping 1/3 more than the studio thought possible, and the biggest April opening ever by a mile (previous best was Anger Management's $42M in 2003). What's interesting is that the movie that launched Vin Diesel, Paul Walker and Michelle Rodriguez is now saving their careers since Vin and Paul have been in a succession of film flops, while Michelle's arrests could have lost her the Lost gig. The pic also opened day and date in 32 overseas markets, and it looks to haqve made in excess of $20M.

The other openers this weekend are Miramax's teen comedy Adventureland which should make no more than $10 million from 1,862 venues -- but only if the Twilight girls turn out for Kristin Stewart. And Overture Releasing has put R-rated Sunshine Cleaning into 479 dates.

I think alot of people will go see it because of the original cast. Especially with Vin in it.

40-50 mil is my vote

I'm going to see it because Paul Walker is the greatest actor in the world. He should have won an Oscar for his performance in Varsity Blues....LOL

60 million is just

...people like the Fast and Furious movies, no doubt. I can respect the majority, but it is not a movie I really care to see.

All I know is I went to see it because a buddy wanted to see it and why not. There were a lot of people there and more when I got out.
