Default How much will X-Men Origins: Wolverine Bring in Opening Weekend?

Considering the movie being leaked and the Swine flu i'd say about $70 - $80 million.

what do you think?

Default Swine Flu??

What does That have to do with the movie's opening? Cuz' you predict $75-80 million, meaning a lot of people would have to go OUT to see it to make that much money -- so that doesn't (to me) seem to make sense.

Anyway, I think between $60-70 million. Short run time (1hr 37mins per www.fandango.com) ensures many showings each day, built-in audience, and not that this will make That much of a difference but maybe a little bit; on the drive into work this morning, Howard Stern said he caught a screening of it yesterday and LOVED it, said it was better than "IRON MAN" -- which I find hard to believe, but we'll have to see. His sidekick Robin Quivers, was there also, and enjoyed it, but didn't think it was as amazing as Howard did (related to the IRON MAN comparison). I figure since he has a lot of fans who know he's into comic books and movies adapted from them, if he gives it a good review it could help. Also noted that Hugh Jackman is coming in this week on the show.

Wolverine Facing Swine Flu in Mexico City
Source:Variety April 27, 2009

Variety reports that the recent outbreak of swine flu in Mexico City may hurt the opening of X-Men Origins: Wolverine in the city:

20th Century Fox's "X-Men Origin: Wolverine" is due to open Thursday but the majority of the capital's theaters are likely to be closed. Scores of screens owned by exhibitors Cinepolis, Cinemex, Cinemas Lumiere and Cinemark have gone dark and the remaining chains and indies are expected to follow suit. Cinepolis is also shutting theaters in the states of Mexico and San Luis Potosi. Cinemark and Cinemas Lumiere sites are closed until further notice while others hope to re-open later this week depending on the situation.
If this is happening there its bound to happen here in the U.S.

Is this for the U.S. or worldwide boxoffice. If it's for the U.S., I think that it will bring in somewhere between $55 and $70 million.

If you say you're talking about U.S. Box Office numbers, what does Mexico City have to do with it? It's only a few cities affected here, most from a school trip of kids (20 I believe) that was recently down there, so if you think because of Mexico City's potential box office being down w/people staying in where the flu is More Prevalent, I don't see the connection to it having the same affect in the States. It'll do at least $60+ mil, maybe over $70mil. I'll be there Sunday.
