Not the best numbers, really makes one wonder how much the work draft on the Internet hurt the box office...

Well it could all depend on how it does today. I've been debating watching it in theaters because the theater in town decided to bend everyone over and raise the prices on tickets. I honestly do not want to spend $10 a ticket.

seriously.
Wolverine is 100% trailing Iron Man and this opening is AMAZING.
Wolverine will loose about 27% of Friday's audience today and look for it to end in the $80 to $85 million range for opening week (could be higher but don't count on it).

this was a great opening making more than X-Men and trailing X2 ... now the troubles ahead might come, but we'll see. I think it can atleast reach $155 million domestic.

I went to the 9:15 pm showing last night it was pretty much a sell out. When it was over there was tons of applause. Everyone here seemed to love it. I think it will make quite a bit today and tonight too and possibly tomorrow. I think it will have a nice opening weekend. After that though there is probably gonna be a big dropoff, especially with Star Trek starting next weekend. The movies are about to be rolling out one after another.

Default We had a free ticket from the X-men triple pack

For two of us with a coke it was $11.00. Marta says the movie sucked. I give it a could have waited to rent the Blu disk.

It was a 4 P.M. matinée. 1/2 full in a larger theater.

I agree with your assesment. Don't think it will match Iron Man's initial weekend box office total. However, as a huge superhero fan. I am glad it is doing well.

Ours was sold out until 2 showings from the one we actually went. They came in to tell us about 15 minutes before the movie started that it was sold out. BTW, I thought is was awesome, far and away better than IM. The introduction of Gambit was awesome but his limited screentime left much to be desired.

It made 98m to be exact. So far wolverine is a bit behind Iron Man. I think it will fall short of that record, by making about 90m this weekend. That's still pretty good.

Iron Man rocketed to $98.6 million on approximately 8,700 screens at 4,105 theaters for a $102.1 million tally including Thursday night previews.

Just read on the forums over at Box Office Mojo that the estimated Saturday number is 31 million, which means if you exclude the Friday midnights then it actually went up a bit...not bad...should do around 85-90 million for the weekend.

This is true. Got to wait til final numbers, Iron Man opened to $39 million on opening day, so Wolverine should pull in about $89/90 for the weekend.

No they don't, but its common for a drop, not necessarilly alarge drop (and some do see increases in the second week, though it isn't all that common). I haven't seen the film and may catch it in around two weeks (my life will be pretty hectic untill then), but wont be hugely dissapointed if I don't see it in cinemas).

Superhero movies that do not have good buzz tend to fall greatly after opening weekend. I will surmise that the box office pattern will mirror Watchmen's take after a few weeks.
