Default Odds of a Batman Begins re release in near future?

Hello all. I'm posting this since I figured those of you that would have more knowledge of these situations might know. After reading many reviews about Batman Begins, there was some disappointment in the lack of upgrading that could have occurred when the movie came over to Blu-ray from the format that shall not be named. What are the odds that another and hopefully better version of Batman Begins will hit the market? Obviously, this is Warner we're talking about here so this is very likely, but I didn't know if this is something that we could be looking at in the near future or something that will truly be farther down the road.

While I can't know for sure, I would highly doubt it. There's really little reason for them to take the time and spend the money re-releasing a movie when this release is just fine. It would have been more likely if it had hardly any features, but that's not the case either. You never know of course, but in my opinion, no.

Agreed I don't see that happening without a trilogy/quadrilogy set or a anniversary.

If the audio track had been dolby digital then I would say yes. Being that Batman Begins already has a TrueHD track the possibility of a re-release would be slim.

I don't see a possibility of a new take on this or Dark Knight until just before or just after a new film.
You've got years to wait, and the title can be had quite inexpensively.

What is wrong with the current version? The PQ and AQ seemed quite nice to me.

The next time we see a true re-release of Batman Begins is when part 3 arrives. Not sooner.

I had this one on HD DVD and found it quite well done, that's just me. But reading the review on this site of the BD, the only real thing I saw was that it could be better. Well, OK, but again, all that was really said was that it wasn't reference quality. OK, how many BD's, ratio wise, are reference quality? Not too many.
This seems to be an average to slightly above average work from WB, which is their usual as it seems. I don't think it's necessary to think about a re-release because that could be said about, for conversation sake, 90% of the BD's on the street...

Agree completely. It is likely that just before the new film comes out in 2011 or 2012 there will be a new addition like Terminator but there's no reason to re-release the title until then when there's something to tie it in with. In addition the current release isn't bad at all.

If WB sees Batman 3 as the last of the franchise I would expect to see a trilogy release. They *might* remaster the first two if they do that, but they're both pretty solid (unlike, say, Terminator) so there's no way to be sure.

We need a better version of Rocky and some of Arnold's films first. BB is great compared to those titles!

The "disappointment" with the PQ on the current version is vastly overstated, in my opinion. If you like this movie, there is really no reason not to get the current BD.

All very valid points...... but you can look at "Casino Royal" and throw logic right out the window

If there is a market for it... or the studio/director etc... have a strong enough desire to make it happen..... then it will happen.

DVDs were released MULTIPLE times in many cases.... so it's a matter of time I'd say.

If they're gonna apply extensive work to a Batman film, they should do a proper release of The Dark Knight. Scan the 35mm stuff from the 35mm master, and splice it with the IMAX material scanned from the IMAX master in order to have the 35mm material not have the drastic DNR that was present in the IMAX master. Include an option to matte the film to eliminate the aspect ratio shifts. Throw in a commentary track. I'd rebuy that.

Batman Begins is JUST FINE. People just have a major problem with HD-DVD releases hitting Blu-ray and not being COMPLETELY redone. There is no one thing which is wrong with the movie. It might not be a stunner, but if that's the case, no matter what they do with it, it won't be a stunner.

No time in the immediate future. Perhaps around the time Nolan's third film is released, but no sooner than that.

The logic of the Casino Royale Double Dip was to tie into the new film. Just like it will be with either of the Batman films.

Bond is a terrible example though. They've pushed the limits of double dipping these titles with DVD, which is why I'm holding off on any of the new Bond releases until there is a comprehensive boxed set of everything before Daniel Craig.

I doubt if its anything to go by but the original 1989 Batman movie was released on DVD in 1998 and didn't receive the special edition treatment until 2005.

I agree with everyone else, wouldn't be until the 3rd is released and they relese a trilogy box set. Even then though, it still might not even be a new a transfer.
