Default Acronyms and such

While I consider myself a bit more knowledgeable than the average person when it comes to electronics when it starts to get more advanced I get pretty confused on some terms.

Is there a place where I can catch up on all of the acronyms and such along with more info on audio and video definitions(what is lossless audio and what what aspect ratios mean) etc etc?

Thanks!

It'll take a while, but if you spend some time reading the stickys at the top of each section you'll be amazed at the info that's out there and how well it is explained.

Lossless audio is a bit for bit reproduction of the studio master, hence nothing is lost.

Aspect ratio is the "shape" that a movie or show is filmed in, with the first number being the width and the second number being the height.

1.78:1 means that for every inch of height to the screen it has 1.78 inches of width.

2.35:1 would be a wider ratio, and if you are watching this on a HDTV (16:9) then there would be black bars at the top and bottom (which are just fine).

Welcome to the site, and if there are other acronyms you can't figure out then this is a great place to post them.
