While I would love to get the TV show on blu at some point, I have to wonder if such an old show would benefit a lot from the blu treatment.

M*A*S*H was a movie before it was a television show.

MASH looked very hazy on the 5 Star DVD. The look reminds me of Friedkin's French Connection without the horrible colour bleed. It was remastered to Altman's liking according to the featurette on said DVD. The Blu will be accurate for sure, but it won't be a looker.

In fact, let's clarify that by saying HOO-boy, was it not the TV show!

(Let's start with "Robert Altman", work our way through "Hippie Donald Sutherland as Alan Alda", and all the way to "Did you ever wonder how Hot Lips first got her nickname?")

They must be just entering them. I found them when I did a search for all Fox titles, or if you enter the title in the searc engine it will come up. Same with the MGM/UA additions today.

Both of these will be day 1 purchases for me. As somebody mentioned though, M*A*S*H probably won't have the greatest picture quality. My standard DVD copy looks pretty bad. Great flick though, so any improvement is fine by me. Anybody else love the theme song? I still run into people that know only the TV series and they say "That song had lyrics?"

I don't own M*A*S*H so I'll grab that one for sure. I'll have to see some reviews before I upgrade my Towering Inferno DVD.

You are correct. I do see them now when I search for them individually.

M*A*S*H---excellent. A great ensemble cast. One of the more faithful cinematic adaptations of existing material, too.

Are you saying the show came first?

Of course MASH is hazy! It was the 70's.

Nice to see Fox/MGM supporting so many catalog titles. Hopefully they continue porting over all the extras. If there's a "Most Improved Studio" award, they're the top contender right now.

He could be talking about its adaptation from the novel which really came first. It was rejected as a screenplay by several studios before finally being made into an Oscar-winning feature film. Then came the TV series.

M*A*S*H is a day one purchase for me, too. Hopefully it sells well enough to convince Fox to prepare all 11 Seasons of the TV series for Blu-ray. It sold well enough on VHS and DVD for Fox to return that well for a 3rd time. As far as I know, all 251 were shot on film - so remastering for an HD release is quite feasible, if it hasn't already been done.

MASH is supposed to look a bit hazy and grainy,to remove the grain, haze, etc.to make it look squeaky clean would completely ruin it!,that's the way Robert Altman shot the film(it should look a bit better on Blu.though!),it also did not have huge budget's like Patton or Tora,Tora,Tora, the other major war pics of 1970.
