New columns should be added to the spreadsheet:

Date purchased
Date watched

To paraphrase Harlan Ellison, "Who wants a shelf full of movies you've already watched?"

I'm on a tight budget this season as well, but I think I'll be able to squeak in a copy of the Tati set.

I have been getting extra hours at work so I don't feel bad about spending some money. Otherwise I would definitely be holding back.

I think I am only going in for about 3: an eclipse set (late Ozu), Fellini's 8 1/2, and something else like Jules and Jim, A Bergman film, or a silent film like master of the house. There is also that updated F for Fake with so many interesting bonus features.

My unwatched titles are only unwatched as far as my blu-ray copy goes. I'm working my way through them, and I also have 2 weeks vacation coming up for Christmas. A couple of my "not watched" titles are pre-orders as well.

I scrapped my Focus, so my Criterion fund is coming from there.

Luckily, I get to write off every blu-ray purchase on my taxes, so I definitely keep receipts.

What is everyones take on "The Lady Vanishes" criterion Blu? I really like the movie and have it on a Hitchcock multi-dvd set with okay PQ.

Funds are alright for me, but I've got way too many still-unwatched Blu-rays. It's a good first world problem to have, I guess. My own fault, especially after rocking out with the latest FoxConnect 50% off sale.

I started a new job last week, a lateral transfer from the Atlanta office to the mountains of north Georgia, that will keep me a lot busier during the week with less time to watch the discs that I have.
(I work in environmental protection. What I am doing now is pretty similar to what Ben Affleck's character does in Terrence Malick's To the Wonder, except that I do not come home to Olga Kurylenko or Rachel McAdams.)

I'm at an Interpol concert tonight instead of catching up on Blu-rays, but I'm looking forward to starting the Vincent Price Collection II set later this week. I'll probably watch Antonioni's L'Eclisse again before watching The Last Man on Earth, because I love how those two movies flow together in that sequence. Trust me on this...it's pretty amazing.

As the old saying goes...the third time is the charm.

I watched 8 1/2 for the third time in my life tonight and I am so glad that I did. Tonight's viewing gave me a new perspective to the film and I finally understand it and the message it is conveying. What a masterful film!

It all comes down to being true to oneself. If one's entire life is built on lie after lie, how is he or she supposed to feel rewarded or accomplished?

Except that if the cashier has to manually enter the coupon code, they can do it just as easily from the printed-out coupon as they can reading it from your smartphone. I have the coupons printed out right here in front of me, and they have a paragraph titled "Bookseller instructions", which starts off with "Scan all items, then scan coupon barcode or enter coupon code".

Besides, not everyone has a smartphone.
Absolutely true.. I thought of that. Not everyone has a smartphone much less a cellphone even! I suppose as long as you tell the csr not to scan the barcode and instead manually punch in the code from a printed coupon, that would be just as effective.

Some of the wording on the $8/40 coupon can be confusing for a csr because they think it only applies to a product after all discounts have been applied...but really the MSRP is before all discounts, so whenever I point this out they realize how deceptive the fine print is.

I wish it was that simple, but I'm not buying just Criterions. I have limited space on my Christmas list thanks to the Halloween set and Cowboy Bebop, among other wants.

I used to work at BN and all the codes can be imputed manually.

I just visited the barnes and noble website, and it says nothing about a criterion sale.

I currently work at B&N (though our store has a tiny media department), and it's much easier if a coupon is printed out so we can just go ahead and scan it. And, most of the time, our scanners can't even scan barcodes on phones so we have to manually put in the code anyway. A printout is much more efficient for everyone involved.

The Last Man on Earth is easily my favorite Price movie and least campy of his horror movies. That's not to say I don't like his campy roles. The Phibes movies are films that I can watch repeatedly because they are so off the wall and really showcase his talent for portraying pathos, camp and sly humor all in one film. Okay, now I'm jonsing to watch them again.

The coupons are usually nice and short, though, especially the dummy coupons. I used to get more mad when I couldn't scan a gift card.

Our 'to watch' pile is really low, so the sale is perfectly timed.

Haven't made my final list yet, but I expect to probably get 10 Blu Rays, mostly releases from the last 6 months.

True, but it's still easier to just scan a barcode. We have Godiva chocolate bars and they never ever scan; I've learned to just immediately type in the EAN.
