Cowboy Bebop with a lossless soundtrack would be amazing.

+1!
I would die to see Cowboy Bebop, Escaflowne, Ghost in the Shell (movies and TV), Trigun, Ghibli movies, Vampire Hunter D, and sooo many more in lossless audio and 1080p!

I sure hope at least some of these will make it to Blu soon.

Its a shame though that right now pratically the only recognizable anime (US) thats showcasing Blu-Ray is Dragonball Z. Sure its a very popular anime and sells really well, but from the reviews that I've read its just at par.

I've seen all of those movies on DVD and unlike the anime you've listed, the soundtracks on the DBZ movies are pale in compairison. I actually listed to the soundtrack from Cowboy Bebop on an irregular basis as well as Trigun.

I like the soundtrack of DBZ: Lord Slug because its from the group Disturbed and it played very well in the movie

Personally, other than putting more episodes on a Blu-Ray due to its increased storage capacity, I don't see how a show like Dragonball can benefit from any video or audio enhancement and how it will benefit us as anime fans. With movies like Appleseed Ex Machina being done in CG, I can see where that type of anime can benefit from what Blu-Ray has to offer but the Dragonball series? With a majority of the pre-2000 anime that's been released, the only advantage that I see for anime titles is cramming more episodes on Blu-Ray so that sets like the 10+ DVD's for Neon Genesis Evangelion can be put on a lesser number of Blu-Ray discs. Just MHO.

Agreed. I wouldn't mind seeing Vampire Princess Miyu myself. Wish there was a new series for Miyu to be featured in

yes!!!!
I'd pay the price of the import for the series' blurays!!!
I hope they find a way to make them out soon. I heard the main problem of releasing anime series is the use of cgg that can't be done over, also that if anime series that were not made originally in HD were doomed to be just upscales. I WOULD NEVER consider buying upscale anime. Why would I if my dvds are upscale already by my ps3?

Yeah, I wouldn't bother with upscaled either.

I'd love to see all of Patlabor on Blu Ray. I'd settle for the TV series and OVA on DVD if remastered properly though. The existing DVD releases are pretty mediocre LD masters.

I'd go for Ghost in the Shell and Bebop too.

I'd love Freedom also, but not sure about the price...

ADV has already done that on dvd and with remastered audio they call it the platinum collection or something like that

https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread...855#post998855 well you did provide the link so we at least know its true and probably the reason why you couldnt find it is because the title doesnt say gunbuster vs. diebuster in it but we do thank you for the link so at least now we know its for real but i do wonder if its going to be $100 they should at least put a dub track on it

It depends how it was stock. Cel was shot directly to FILM, with Film you can rescan. But if they shot to film and then transfered to Video and scrapped the film you're screwed. Because Video was limited to NTSC Resolution.

All new anime series since about 2001 are rendered at 640x480 in computer so you're completly screwed there also. That's why i absolutely hate computer anime.

Most film can be restored because film has a higher resolution than HD

The first and biggest problem is that the stem tracks for Gunbuster were lost or destroyed. They would have to re-create the entire soundtrack to even begin to dub it

Gunbuster is "old", neither one of them sold well, it's simply not financially worth their time to do it. Even major classics are selling poorly for the new crowd more interested in flash than substance.

Standard anime production process before computers was Cel>16mm film (35mm for some OVAs and for movies, possibly including Gunbuster)>PAL video(for the higher res)
