I don't have to worry about space! so nah nah nah naaaaah :P (hence I LOVE the big digipaks, size does matter folks!)

I want to sort that shelving out tbh though, the holes they gave me to put the shelves on are all uneven and awkward, gonna put my own hole sin and have the heights better suited to the size of the cases :P!

Yes they are. I'm not a completist however. I just have these two because I like them a lot. I pass on most of their releases, though I hear they will be releasing Rust and Bone in the near future.

I can't believe I don't own The Complete Jean Vigo. I always thought this was a pricey box set that was like $70 or 80 but its really as much as a standard $39.99 Criterion blu-ray title.

I am DEFINITELY going to buy this. How on earth do I not have this already? I'm shocked.

L'Eclisse will also be mine along with 8 1/2 and Rules of the Game and probably Breathless too even though I'm not crazy about Godard (and I've seen Breathless so many times I don't feel like owning it, but its such an obviously important title I might as well purchase it already).

It's because Vigo's entire filmography is under three hours.

Of course, as I said, I very well may be the only person who feels that way.

On a side note, the cinematography and costume design are great.
I admittedly didn't enjoy it the first time I viewed it, but then I read the novel, loved it, and decided to give the film another chance. I'm so happy the novel is included in the set. Don't read the posthumously published missing 18th chapter though. I agree with Joan Lindsay's publishers, it ruins the novel.

Yes I realize this now. Vigo died of TB at 29 years old and only made 3 short films but he was well ahead of his time. I took 4 years of film classes and for some reason I never studied Jean Vigo's work (or maybe I did and I forgot).

EDIT: 2 short films and 1 feature length.

So, I finally picked up the Blu-ray of Seven Samurai and added it to my collection. It wasn't what I was planning on getting, but I do quite like the film and I'm glad that I finally have it. I think this will probably be my only purchase during this sale; the only other possibility is L'avventura later this month.

Bah, who wants rows and rows of discs all mixed together living like pigs.

It's not like that for wiseguys.

I could never name a dog Kubrick. For one thing, I'd have to get a dog.

And I'd just wind up calling him Stanley anyway and that's kind of a boring dog name.

Get two dogs, Stanley and Kubrick.

I think Bergman and Fellini make good dog names too haha! Come to think of it, a lot of the Directors name sin the collection seem fitting for a pet lol

I did name my Cockatiel 'Sailor' after the character in Wild at Heart, the bird turned out to be a girl, but I loved it lol.

My dream shelving solution would be a STRING system. They're a Scandinavian company, and it's one of those timeless designs that have been around for decades. They were really popular in the 50s, 60s and 70s and pop up often in the European cinema of the time (just recently I saw one of their pieces in Sundays & Cybelle). They're fully customisable, and you can expand them too, building units and desks and all sorts in. When we eventually buy a house this is the first thing we'll buy!

I ADORE these shelves - I love the colourful ones on eBay but SO expensive! - You could probably make them with CD wracks or those wire wine wracks :P

IKEA do a cheap version, but my wife is really into this kind of stuff and is really keen to do it properly. Luckily her hobby (collecting Scandinavian furniture) makes collecting Criterion look relatively cheap!

The bonus of buying proper String shelving is that you're always going to be able to buy expansion units. If IKEA were to discontinue or rework their own version then you'd be a bit stuck or have to start again. The genuine system is expensive, but it holds its value.
