The Tangled vs. Frozen debate shall rage for all eternity. I get the feeling kids generally prefer Frozen. Given Rapunzel's brief cameo appearance, I could see Disney setting up an Avengers' style cross-over event movie. It could be the worst movie ever produced...and still bring in a billion+

It's a post-haircut version of her, but it's definitely her all right. It's in the coronation scene.

I thought that the Mom-relationship conflict stuff was pretty classic, but it should have been a side plot, not the whole show. The kooky witch and "bear out of water" gags were just painful. That script needed to be re-written about 4 more times to qualify as a real Pixar movie.

I liked the iguana, the horse, Raponzel and her boyfriend. The drunks in the bar were hilarious too. The mother was a beotch, but (as we all know) ALMOST EVERY MOVIE EVER MADE has a foundation of good verses evil.

I highly regret selling a majority of my 3D Blu-Rays as I'm going to get a PlayStation VR, which plays Blu-Ray 3D. For movies that really work well with 3D is what I'm really going for with PSVR. Tangled is one of them that I hear that's great for it and I sold the 3D disc long time ago. I might import the UK 3D pack so long as it's region free right? Last time I imported Pinocchio 1-Disc UK Blu-Ray, stating it was region free and my PS3 was not able to play it. Will this be the same case??

And has anyone tried watching this movie with PlayStation VR?

AH. That explains all the hoopla. At least they gave me a full refund after returning it back.

Thanks for the quick response. Guess I'll import it!

For Ratatouille, is there a way to strip the region coding and burn it to a new BD-R? I don't think I want to go the region-free-mod route.

Despite being an animated family musical about magical hair, it is quite fun. The songs were great, the action was captivating, and the animation was very colorful.

The 3D is the type that will truly bring the viewer along for the adventure. There are many spectacular chase sequences and dance numbers that make full use of 3D space. Depth is strong, and objects are routinely placed in both positive and negative parallax. Floating windows are used often to manage edge violations. I really appreciate some of the interesting sequences designed to emphasize the 3D environment, allowing 3D objects to migrate from deep background to near foreground, like letting Rapunzel's golden hair fall down toward the viewer and watching a massive wave rush at the camera. There are a few forgettable, gimmicky "pop-out" moments where something is quickly tossed at the viewer. The much-praised "floating lantern" scene, however, might be the best 3D moment I have witnessed. There is a huge buildup to it in the story, and it is delivered with absolutely beautiful animation and extreme pop-out excellence. It becomes such a memorable and iconic moment thanks to 3D. Overall, Tangled is an exceptional experience, and I encourage all stereoscopic enthusiasts to check it out.

Movie - 4/5
Stereography - 5/5
Depth - 5/5
Pop-out - 4.5/5
Roundness - 5/5
Excellent movie. Colorful full screen 3D. The scene in the darkened tower with the "mama knows best" song and the spotlighting...pure eye candy. Along with the front entry to the tower and the flowers...amazing. Probably the most watched of all my discs. Story line is great to. Highly recommend this family movie. A 3D showpiece for sure.

I second that comment, the 3d is indeed fantastic.

I just watched a SBS version of Tangled Ever After I found online - shame on Disney for only releasing it flat on disc, it's mostly action so the 3D is pretty good.

Tangled Ever After 3D Trailer HD - YouTube
It's available in 3D SBS on Vudu. I have it - good 3D but the resolution is low.

Are you watching VUDU through PlayStation? I’ve heard it 720 for 3D playback

Recently rewatched for the first time since it came out. I saw it in 3D then but wasn't really an enthusiast like I am now. The 3D is much better than I remember. Or maybe that's just a reaction to how mild 3D has gotten over the years. The movie has a lot of charm and Rapunzel is adorable. Mandy Moore did a really good job.

On PS consoles it is because Sony only allows applications (other than the built-in blu-ray player) to output 3D in 720p unfortunately. That may be because no games would try to output higher because the horsepower just isn't there. Vudu is probably the only thing affected I think.

It's 1080p SBS format on Vudu through my LG 4K TV. This equates to around 540p resolution for each eye.

Saw a bit of ghosting in the lantern scenes years ago but, watching it now on the BenQ HT3550 they are gone.

DLP's and BenQ's are impervious to all ghosting except for what is actual source ghosting (very rare). Lovely 3d on those! What size screen you have and how is the brightness? I just watched this a week ago on my ht3050 which should be very similar 3d-wise. It was pretty great, but I only have a 100" screen and the bulb is starting to show it's age in 3d.

Thought I should share this. I just got the US 2016 disc to replace my 2013 disc from Korea which unfortunately froze and skipped the entire second half of the movie. On starting the new disc, first thing I notice is the increased level of brightness, which makes the picture garish and lower in contrast compared to the nice contrast of the old disc. I had to switch my gamma setting from Graphics (for 3D) to Film to reduce the garishness. My projector gamma setting for 3D is Graphics to get the best brightness and contrast for 3D viewing. My setting for 2D is Film gamma which gives the best pq.

So theoretically switching to a Film Gamma for this new Tangled 3D disc should give a better pq. Unfortunately it is not the case as the increased brightness of the new disc also comes with a higher level of black, which robs the deep inky blackness of the old disc (noticeably the blackness of the mother's hair; in the new disc, it's just dark grey). So although the 3D picture is now brighter, I still prefer the deep black of the old disc giving better contrast in both shadows and highlights, albeit at some expense of overall brightness.
