I made a couple of friends from my clan. We do the dailies, weeklys and pvp together. When we play pvp we stick together and cover each other. They are better than me so I usually get the assist. Or in cases where they die I get the kill and they get the assist.

And by playing pvp I am getting better at it. I went from no kills/1 kill to 4-5 kills on my own. Granted I still suck compared to others but I am having fun and I am getting better.

If you can get people to stick together, it can be easy at times. Playing with randoms though, everyone runs around solo and a good team will just murder you all, lol. I need the atheons epilogue to do this bounty now!

Grim does not need to play it for fun. It's for a bounty. Running around and farming helium or spirit bloom is not much fun, either, but we do it.

The next part is key. You will need 1 29 with maxed Epilogue/IB to run up the middle and put his back against the pillar in the center (protection from snipers). As for the rest of the team, 1 29 holds the right gate (preferably sunsinger with resurrection or titan shield) while the other 3 29's and 30 (with relic) goes Rambo on everything in the 2nd portal. They must be out quick because the 1 guy will be getting hammered holding the portal open. Once the 2nd relic is out everyone comes to the center and holds for a bit until done.

2 people going in do not do enough damage quick enough to be successful, that's why we go 4 in.

If I can get with the same group, I'll have to suggest this. The 30 was able to solo the first portal, and I was almost able to hold the conflux, but not as you describe taking shields with AE, then IB for the kill. This should speed things up and conserve ammo. The one time I tried using IB there I ended up backing off the edge. Where things fell apart was that second portal. Two went in, and it took too long, I guess. Holding that second plate is the hard part. Praetorians and multiple hobgoblins make for a mess against 29s.

I actually ended up helping with a late night Atheon HM kill and that was interesting. They had a level 28 hunter lol He had a Gjallarhorn so whatever. He could still do some dps to Atheon but man harpies would own him lol Oracle kills were the obvious slow down though as a 28 and 29 could not really kill them fast enough. One time we did get Atheon to 1%!! But we wiped

The 28 ended up leaving so we picked up a mute lvl 30 (no mic) and we then proceeded to kill Atheon in a few attempts afterwards with 3 30s and 3 29s.

So yes levels do matter in Hard mode

oh and I got my 6th VOC!! (ive discarded one before)

It's nice to see I'm not the only one getting in trouble with the wife over this game. I admit, I had been neglecting other responsibilities at times, and need to find a better balance, which is the plan going forward. But she was actually mad at me yesterday morning because I woke up early and knocked-out a bunch of bounties (while she was sleeping) before I had to head-off to the airport.

BTW, she refers to all of you guys as my "middle school friends", and can't believe I'm playing with adults. Women....

I'm not very good at PvP, but in the few instances where the fireteam I was on actually played as a team, it was enjoyable. One time on the Mars map in Control, our team set-up to guard A&C simultaneously from the upstairs room with the windows, and we destroyed the other team where the players just came running at us individually with no plan. This was done with randoms and no mics, so I could imagine how dominating an actual fireteam of friends can be.

Of course. The 28 is only doing about half damage. So it takes twice as many bullets (or rockets) punctuated by twice as many reloads, so it really takes more than twice as long to kill enemies, because someone at level 30 is not reloading to kill every enemy they face. It amazes me still how many players do not realize the siginificance of the difference. If they gave you the option of seeing your teammates damage numbers, it might sink in. At 29 I do 1965 critical damage to the Gatekeeper with maxed out Ice Breaker. A 30 does 2800+ damage.

I think that's Atheon during Time's Vengeance. I do recollect that being around 17k for level 30's and 12k for level 29s using IB fully upgraded. My number is based on observations of critical hits with IB on the Gatekeeper from the just outside the doorway to the final boss area of the vault.

These are the stats for the damage penalties from Reddit:


4 lvl or lower below mob: 100% damage penalty
3 lvl below mob: ~52% damage penalty

0 lvl below or higher than mob: 0% damage penalty

Those numbers are correct enough. I got -44% at -2 and -55% at -3 testing this myself. Go to a Nightfall or Heroic area, and make a critical hit on a level 28 enemy, then swap some armor to lower your level and repeat. What this translates into, though, is needing 50% more hits (bullets) at one level below. That's a huge difference and completely changes the way you have to play the game. I'm sure you've played hard raid with guys who have never played it below level 30. Some of them have no clue and will try and explain that you need to kill elite (yellow) Praetorians at range, not understanding that you threw a grenade and started shooting them as they exited the spawn point, and they still manage to get into melee range before you can kill them.

Every once in a while She just stands between me and the TV and stairs at me. She don't know that I can still see the TV from the reflection in the window. She's a good woman thow and I cant afford another one.
