Haha, I'm sorry. I didn't mean for my question mark to start a ruckus.

im probably gonna pick up a nice edition of the Cabal book. maybe a few more clive barker books as well.

whats better to read the book first and watch the movie later or should i watch the directors cut first and read the book later?

everytime i did read a novel i usually liked it more than the movie. the other way around the novel wasnt really interessting enough to keep my attention since i already did know what happend.

is the Directors cut close to the book?

I would read the book first - especially since you said if you watch the movie first you may not be able to make it through the novel if it's too similar.

The director's cut is very close to the book, and also closer than the theatrical version is.

Without giving away any spoilers, the major differences between the book and the director's cut that I can think of are...mainly a change in the location where a couple of events occur and also the ending is a just a little bit different.

I never got a shipping email from DeepDiscount and I ordered it when it was listed as in stock. I paid with PayPal if that makes a difference.

i did just order a used copy from the UK it will probably take a while anyway till the bluray from amazon.com or deepdiscount would arrive.
the one from amazon will most likely be returned with never showing up here anyway. happens alot since they use this new Carrier "IMEX"

From what I remember, the end of the Director's Cut is like the novel.

What you should really read though is The Hellbound Heart and The Books of Blood volumes. They're Clive Barker's earliest but still his best stories in my opinion -- much better than Cabal.

Got the shipping notice from the Amazon.ca seller! Hard to believe this thing could actually be on its way here.

Just getting back into BD after a small break and ordered the SE version today. I've read the book but have yet to see the film. Looking forward to seeing this. Seems that Scream! is very busy this year. This is good ^_^

Yeah, same here, just got the shipping notice this morning as well.
Now I just have to wait until it arrives then cancel the other .ca order.
Still cannot believe that Amazon cannot even deliver this, enen though it was pre-ordered way back in September!
Unless of course, they have determined that more money could be made south of the border because of the higher price at .com right now, and choose to totally ignore us Canucks who pre-ordered at around $55. Canadian.
I've been extremely dissatisfied with the service from Amazon.ca this year.

Completely agree. Between lack of stock and long shipping times I have canceled more orders with them this year than probably all other years I've used them combined.

Not surprising, but I guess I'm not getting my LE order I placed from blowitoutahere three and a half months ago. While they haven't sent me any updates in nearly a month, I just noticed that they refunded me the purchase price last week. I went to check the order status on their website, and it says the order does not exist/cannot be found.

So, I guess I've gotta pay $25 more on Amazon if I want this title. At this point, I don't even care that much. I used to buy every Scream Factory CE (and most of their other titles), but they've been delivering less and less lately.

My faves is Shauna Sassi and Rachel for obvious reasons as i had a crush on them since i was a kid, yet Rachel has nice ones as i remembered when i was a young teen i had dirty fantasies about them. I also thought Deckar was one unique villain.

Does this movie remind you of the works of Guillermo Del Toro (especially Pan's Labyrinth and Hellboy 1 & 2), Wicked City (the 1987 anime with similar idea of shapeshifting beings living among society with humans thing), The Island of Dr Moreau (book and the movies including Island of Lost Souls) and even Avatar (similar plot of a man who becomes a creature in a society of creatures to protect his new species from bad humans theme)? this movie is a cult classic you know and has admirers including Guillermo Del Toro to Todd Mcfarlane of Spawn fame. And do you think the film could had possibly been one of the inspirations to Gargoyles (the animated show)? i mean both NB and Gargoyles are fantasies about night monsters living among society in secret as they are the good guys but not all of them are good and that humans want them dead yet only one human befriends the monsters to defend them.

And how about the PQ restoration Sarah? if not for the 80s music/hair/clothing you'd think it was filmed last year as there is beautiful coloring, void of digital noise reduction, new detail on hair/skin/clothing/make-up/faces like you never seen it before, light layer of film grain to give it the authentic film feel and all that and the sound being great as well with the goodies on the BD? my 3-disc LE has all that including the goodies to satisfy extras junkies like me.

And do you agree that the DC is a better better film than the TC hatchet job?

As for Dr. Moreau i think that book influenced Cabal as Clive must had liked it as he made a modern version of it especially the creatures/freaks with their "law" thing like said in Island of Lost Souls.

Oooh on other great Scream Factory PQ is Lifeforce, Pumpkinhead, Ginger Snaps, The Fog, The Nest and some Vincent Price titles are very nice too.
he does kind of sound like Tim Curry as Darkness. it reminds me of Hellboy and The Island of Dr Moreau but i've never seen Pan's Labyrinth.

as for the blu ray it looks and sounds great. i like the DC better. i watched the TC but the DC makes more sense

Got my limited edition set from DiabolikDVD yesterday. I'd ordered it from them just over a week ago when they got their re-stock.

Packed nicely in a small cardboard BOX w/brown paper wrapped around the items inside for padding. (I ordered 2 other blu-rays with it.)

Boxset arrived in perfect shape! ...#7,975.

I've been very happy with Diabolik so far...

Spoke to someone from Amazon.ca, now they are saying delivery date is Dec. 2- Dec. 9 or something around those dates. I'm betting they just have to throw out some estimate two weeks away to appease the customer. I'm starting to think there is no way they are getting this in. I wish Scream factory would comment on this, as I'm sure they would know if they have enough stock to fill the orders from a big retailer like Amazon.ca.
