![]() it's not even the best Prequel episode...hard to be the magum opus anything. Unless by that you mean: 1. Lousy Acting 2. Unrealistic stupid lightsabre fight scenes that look like something out of crouching Tiger/Kung Fu Hustle. 3. One of the worst love stories of all time making the 1982's the Pirate Movie look like a instant romance classic.(which is a guilty pleasure of mine) 3. Hero's on both sides ?? 4. and on and on and on and on...... so it may be yours and some others favorite episode of the bunch but is in no way shape or form a "magnum opus" of any kind. Not sure on how good this new story will be but I hope for the love of all that is sacred in this world they go back to "old" school and have more realistic light saber fights like in ESB and get away from all this CGI BS......get back to model/blue screen (yes I know green) screen type work. Would love for them to ace those garbage films and reshoot them to bring them more in line with the what is considered by most to be the real Star Wars films pre 1997 butchered crap. Since when are colourful laser swords supposed be realistic? What I love about the two sets of the films is the contrast in that regard. The originals have that stilted but classical style (though Luke can't resist a backflip or two, I'm sure you must've trained to do that as well wormraper

![]() I'm not saying the ballet properties are bad. It's just as a person who knows how a thing or two about blades almost none of the strikes were meant to actually HIT the damn person. they were designed basically as a sword demo and would rather have them get back to AT LEAST looking like they're trying to hit the person instead of just trying to intersect the other blade several feet in FRONT of the person. I'm not trying to pump them up more than they are, but there's some INCREDIBLE fan films on youtube that show what could be done with the lightsaber battles to at least make it LOOK like they're trying to attack the person instead of looking like they're TRYING to hit the tip of the other person's blade |

I also like the encounter of Anakin and Obi Wan against Dooku, short as it was, followed by their rescue by Yoda. These were much more emotionally impactful. The sight of Yoda displaying his sword skills was an awesome sight. Just seeing him drop his cane and cloak, and using the force to draw his weapon made the entire audience squeel with glee. |

I don't blame anyone for hating the idea of removing all EU from canon, cause there was a lot of great stuff there. Lucas didn't want to tell the sequel trilogy's part of the saga, so it was really only for this reason, I imagine, that he allowed other material to be created and accepted as part of canon. Of course authors are going to tell some great stories to fill the void. Some of these stories no doubt displayed more impressive or effective combinations of force powers. It's a shame you can't stand the prequels for those reasons, though. Edit: obviously the prequels were accepting of a lot of the books' characters and some ideas of how the force could be used. Maybe some of that will happen again. Last edited by djakrse; 11-22-2014 at 09:31 PM. |

on the EU being COMPLETELY removed, yeah he kept some good stuff. The Dathomirian Night sisters and Night Brothers (Maul) were taken from the EU. |

While some may hate the prequels and they do have their faults I still enjoy E3. Not for it's special effects of lightsaber duels, but for the politics and power play of the parties involved in the Republic. Reminds me alot of our current democracy and it's struggles against absolute power.

In the scene where Anakin finds Shmi in the Tusken Raider's hut always makes me laugh. What should have happened is Shmi looks into Anakin's eyes and says "you little bastard, it has been 10 years and you just now come back to free me" and then she spits in his face. Then dies.

![]() Speaking of the fight in the Senate, as it gets destroyed it represents a wonderful visual metaphor for what Palps had done as he'd literally dismantled democracy, which ties in with TylerDurden said upthread about the political intrigue FINALLY paying off in Sith. As for Luke's supposed powers in Awakens undoing what's gone before I don't buy that for a second. Reason being, the Jedi didn't let their power go unchecked, that's why they became so rigid and dogmatic over the centuries, and the Sith kept killing each other off/fighting the Jedi anyway so they never had the time to get that powerful. Luke's so powerful precisely because the two opposing factions that kept each other in check for millennia were destroyed (largely by Anakin's own hand, thereby fulfilling the prophecy about him bringing balance). There's been no Sith wars to distract Luke and no Jedi Order to tell him what to do, ergo his powers have grown exponentially to the point of being dangerous, even God-like, as he grapples with what it means to even be 'good' or 'evil' because when you've got that much power those terms become irrelevant. It's a great angle to explore IMO. Palpatine gloated about "UNLIMITED POWAAAAAA!!!!" when he was zapping Mace Windu, but it seems like even he'd barely scratched the surface.
