I read other reviews that thought the disc was really good i.e DVD file-HD Digest is very slanted towards hd-dud.

Story-wise, the movie did suck (almost as boring as Fracture IMO).

I would never buy such a [crappy] movie title

But, then again, almost all titles are [crappy] to you.

This movie was recently released in the UK, so I thought I'd share my thoughts on the picture quality. In my opinion, this review, which was linked to in another thread, is much more accurate:
http://www.hometheaterspot.com/fusio...hp?tid/137191/

There is no way this BD has been encoded from the same master as the DVD, I've taken photos of the TV paused on the same scene in the DVD and Blu-ray, and the Blu-ray is much cleaner as well as more detailed, suggesting that it has been remastered either from the original negatives, or from film that has been through fewer stages of copying than the master for the DVD release.

As with all movies, there is some variation throughout, depending on light levels and film used, but there are many scenes where the detail in clothing, for example, really pops out of the screen at you.

In summary, this is a good encode, and if you like the movie it's a very worthwhile upgrade from the DVD.

I trust Chad's reviews much more than I trust anything from HD Digest.

Bought the BD and watched the movie when it came out. Loved it. Excellent encode and did not see any problems. The video was nice and crisp with lots of detail.

Hey, I liked Cruel Intentions. Then again, I loved Dangerous Liasons. I liked the fact that Cruel Intentions was a modern play on Liasons.

Anyone here see Valmont, based on the same novel which came out around the same time as Dangerous Liaisons?

Saw it last night. I don't know what but I must be seeing things very different on my 1080p than on B's 1080p , as Chad is right, and to me even the opening alone tells you immediately this is like watching film in your house and no DVD . That close up shot of Sarah Michelle Gellar's green eyes (you'll know which one when you watch the movie) looked fantastic.

Nice, fun movie. A guilty pleasure, truly. Will get this as soon as possible!

But to be honest, what I can't wait for is Dangerous Liasons in BR!

Seriously, cruel intentions was hell as boring as it can get. Go five steps crappier and it would be as boring as "Zodiac".

Just my opinion though but I definitely not gonna buy a crappy title such as this. I'd rather get the Pacifier instead.

Can we try to stay away from insulting other members' tastes in movies please? We are all individuals and to each his own. Thank you.

That's a relief.

If that's what you really meant, then I take back what I said.

I was feeling kinda pissed today in school so I apologize if I reacted too quickly with angst.

I'll retract my statement then.

EDIT: There, I deleted my old post.

I bought the blu-ray to replace the DVD and I'm happy with it. I wouldn't consider it a demo disc or anything but it looked better than I expected (at the time anyway) and imo, was a nice improvement over the DVD.
