I can't speak for the rest of the world, but again, if I'm dropping a good amount of coin on a collectible I want something in writing. Of course anything can be forged, which is why you go with reputable companies.
To each his own, I suppose.
you're missing the point, you're not buying whatever you were buying before, we're telling you THEY DONT COME WITH A COA, a COA in this instance is meaningless. when traded in japan 98% of the time they don't come with a CoA. The fact that a COA comes from a 3rd party shows how worthless they are.

Default On Your Mark Blu-ray arrived!

Hey guys,

So, apologies for not having access to a drive just yet to put up some proper screencaps, but I wanted to give you an idea of what to expect for those waiting on their On Your Mark Blu-rays.

Just a few things, and then you guys can enjoy the images.

First: "On Your Mark" is presented in 2.0 channel linear PCM, or 5.1 channel DTS-HD MA. "Castles In The Air" is also available, in 2.0 channel Dolby Digital. That's all pretty nice for a special features disc that is now only available as a free mail order product (or for exorbitant prices on YAJ), though I'm curious why "Castles In The Air" isn't also available in HD audio given how little content is on the disc.

Second: the image is practically perfect. There is NO DNR to be seen, with a fine grain structure present over the entire image.

Third: Unfortunately because I cannot provide screencaps yet, you'll just have to trust me on that; even in bright white spots where the image looks muddy, it's sharp as a tack and the grain is present throughout. Also, these are NOT color accurate, but I can assure you the colors are as precise as you'd expect. Lastly, the neon letters on "God is Watching You" sign are a lot more sharply delineated than they appear to be in this image. Trust me, it looks amazing.

Fourth: Oh, and look, it fits in the box set after all (if you take the book out.)

With that out of the way, and until I get that BD drive from my pal in California, enjoy these off-tv snaps, plus some pack shots:

Having been on this thread for several years now, I can say that while deschain maybe isn't always the politest (we still love him, though), he definitely knows what he's talking about, as do the several other people here who have chimed in on the COA issue. It's only "to each, his own" if you don't mind getting ripped off. They're just trying to help you not waste your money.

Beautiful dog, by the way. Yours?

@nusilver
Thank you for the report on On your Mark.
That looks beautiful.
So, I haven't understood yet:
The only way to aquire this is to have bought the Miyazaki box set and make a request afterwards for it?
Won't there be a standalone release? Maybe in the silhouette series?

After 3 decades of high end collecting, believe you me, I won't be getting ripped off.
I've never said that folks don't know what they are talking about. Someone asked advice, I gave my advice, based on my experiences.
I know Disney cel fakes are rampant all over ebay and other web outlets.

So again...If it were me buying I would want official documentation. Not only to put myself at ease, but also if/when I was going to sell the product having certified documentation is a huge selling point.

Yes, that's my Golden. He just turned 6 but I still call him puppy. He's laying right by my desk as I type. Thank you for asking.

Nice! My little guy is laying next to me right now, too. He's almost 9 but we *also* still call him a puppy, for obvious reasons:

Yes, as of right now, the only way to get it is to send a postcard from within Japan with the proof of purchase from the Miyazaki box set taped to it. That's why I sent my proof of purchase, on a postcard, inside an envelope... to my god sister, who lived in Japan until only recently. She sent the postcard to them, they sent the Blu-ray to her, and she sent it along to me in NYC. Phew!

I can't imagine it being released as a silhouette release, but that would be pretty cool. You know us... we'll buy anything they put a silhouette on.

Speaking of... Kaguya is out next week at last!

nusilver, I hate to be that guy, but could you post an image or link of that Ni No Kuni silhouette custom art?

From a quick Google search, all I can find is a scaled version. I'll keep searching on my hard drive later, though.

Thanks for the pics nusilver! It will be amazing. Looks nice in the box, too. I will also take out the book and put the release in the box packaging. I'm not sure where to put it though: where you placed it, after the bonus discs, or where it falls chronologically. Oh, and I just noticed you have Howl's Moving Castle after Ponyo. In case you want to flip them, I thought I'd note it.

It's kind of interesting how they only put the English title on the spine too - rather than the Japanese. It's the only one like that on the spine.

Should probably have mine in a week or two.

The bluray "On your mark" has engs subtitles?

That movie from the game "Ni Ko Suni" is available somewhere in DVD/Bluray? What about "Castles In The Air"?

Ah, I didn't notice I slotted in Howl after Ponyo, whoops! And you're right about OYM - it should probably go between Porco Rosso and Princess Mononoke.

No, no, and no. Haha.

There are no subtitles on OYM. It's a music video; two of the tracks are in Japanese, one is in English (called Castles in the Air.) They are two different songs for the same video.

And again, no on Ni No Kuni. It's a custom cover I printed for the PS3 game, as we just discussed above.

There's no Japanese title for On Your Mark.

The melody is the same, so I'd say it's the English version of the same song. I know the lyrics aren't a direct translation of the Japanese, though.

What is the Japanese written above the title on the front cover? I thought that must have been something like that but I guess not. Is it the name of the pop group who did the song?

Isn't it just "a Hayao Miyazaki film", or something like that, the same Kanji text as on all the others?

I have no idea. That's why I was asking. Regardless, it's not a big deal.

I think when my copy arrives I will place it after Porco Rosso, chronologically, as I had earlier suggested.
