Hey Tom V.,

Sorry for asking an off subject question. I was wondering in your experience, does it make a difference with putting insulation/acoustic material inside a rear seat platform?

I have seen where people put the material inside, but I just can’t see why they are doing it.

I am adding a second row seating, and I am in the middle of building a riser for the second row, and I am wondering if I would be wasting money by buying insulation to place inside of it.

Yes, I will be placing some carpet on it with some padding.

You should damp the cavity to be sure it doesn't negatively work on your seating FR(acting like a large resonator).

It may not make a big difference but I wouldn't take the chance. Just put some r-13 or something like that in there..

I did happen to have some Roxul SafeNSound left over that I was considering making some more panels. I can use the rest of it for the riser, I didn't want to waste stuff if It wasn't necessary to place inside the riser.

Thank you sir!

I purchased a PSA XS15se earlier this year to go with my XS30 and I found it's performance was fantastic, so much more than I had expected that I decided on my early Christmas/Birthday present. My second XS15se should arrive Monday and I await patiently.

As an owner of dual XS15se subwoofers, I just want to say welcome to the club.
Heck, I've already begun saving up for another pair of XS15se's.

Thanks timcat.
I have my 2 XS15se subs in my front soundstage and moved my XS30 near field and getting excellent results with this configuration.

I may be sub shopping soon.

My elder statesman(M&K from when "self-powered sub" was a new concept) is starting to prattle along. Certainly got my money's worth...

When your ready to shop for a new one certainly give Tom at PSA a call. He will give you honest no pressure advice and options to units that will feel your needs ( including what the competition has to offer ).

Just checked out the photos in your HT gallery...NICE!!!

One suggestion: you might want to look into getting a projector and screen,
to replace your 70" flat panel HDTV.
Just get some blackout drapes or blinds and your in business.

I recently made the switch from a flat panel, to an inexpensive projector.
Everything you watch is so much more immersive.
You'll never go back to a flat panel.

Thanks for the comment, timcat.

I've actually thought a lot about getting a projector and screen and have had those items in my Amazon cart for the longest time. My problem is that my HT is in my living room and since I'm retired / Grand-kids over very often/ friends dropping by...my TV is on 8-10 hrs. a day way to much for just projector use. I've thought about having a ceiling mounted screen that I could have drop down in front of my TV, but not knowing anything about projectors, would about 10 feet from rear wall to a screen be enough distance to do this?

Will do for sure. It will be replacing an old MFW-15 that's been giving me some problems.

I live in an apartment, so space is limited.
Which is why I got a short throw projector.
The image fires onto a light beige painted side wall and I'm sitting about 11 feet away.

You might want to visit the projector thread and post your question over there.
You'll get a lot of useful advice, as I'm just a novice when it comes to projectors.

Yes I'll have to post there for sure if I get more interested in a projection system. My Main seating would be only 9 1/2 ft to a drop down screen and I figure that to be a bit to close.

Hope all my brothers here at the PSA thread have a Happy and Safe Thanksgiving.

CrazyKat,

Where are you in Colorado? I'm really interested in the XS15se and would love to check one out in person before I buy.

Colorado Springs, that's a bit of a drive but I think I could talk the wife into it if I promise a stop by our favorite Mexican restaurant in Denver.
