The fake trailer gave me goosebumps, an overwhelming feeling of "YEEAAAH!". The real trailer made me go : "Hm, nice ... That's it?"

I'm a big fan of short teasers not showing everything ... This didn't work for me in that way right now. Maybe next time.

I think there is a fine balance, but I get the impression Abrams isn't going to reveal much till you see it in theaters. I think the trailer is going to be very similar. This kind of thinking might be good or bad. Time will tell.

Exactly. I shudder to imagine people's reaction to the theatrical trailer for Alien (which told you practically nothing) if it was released today.

Everybody seems to want the movie spoiled in trailers nowadays. This was a fantastic teaser.

The X-wing scene looked awesome and no one can help but when the Falcon and John Williams' score burst out.

Not sure about the new lightsaber, seems kind of lame. But maybe it'll actually be awesome.

Now I can't wait for the full trailer
Again, people seemed to think the same about Maul's double blade, but I'm sure that once we see this puppy in action we will all feel like…

Why would a project that has been shrouded in secrecy spill the beans now? That makes no sense. The entire campaign has been set up to keep surprises for people who go see it in the theaters. You're wanting to know the gift before it's even unwrapped. But if that's how you feel, okay I guess.

Thought that was a pretty good tease look. But I probably would have left out the football robot. And I would have liked to have seen the OT cast - makes me keen to see the first real trailer. Copied the teaser to my PS3 hard-drive via ps3youtube.com.

Indeed. It looks like Star Wars remade with the clean, crisp look of modern technology. BUT.....there was gonna be no escaping that aspect seeing as we're in the year 2014, so digital X-Wings and Falcons flying loop-de-loop were gonna be part of the deal. But as long as the movie itself captures the zesty personality of the originals (as opposed to the portentous politicising of the prequels) then I'm good.

The point of a teaser or trailer, is to make you want to see the movie. Providing no details other than art work and CG ain't going to sell it to most. Showing some familiar faces, who we all know are in the film isn't revealing anything we don't already know. Plus it reattaches us to the franchise many of us have forgotten about. This reminds me of the prequels, which I would like to forget.

Yep. Model use is apparent. Special effects then wrap around the models. A modern way of doing what was done back in the day. Gives a very realistic feel. Stormtroopers...people in suits not cgi...nice. Very nice. Clone troopers looked like cartoons in the prequel trilogy.

It's a teaser. It's supposed to tease the information, not give it away.

The teaser should only have just the right amount of footage to peak your interest without giving anything away. I know I won't be able to go into this blind, but I would like to try.

Maybe thats my point though. It didn't reveal the amount of footage to peak my interest.

The point of a teaser trailer is to tell you "hey, this movie is on the horizon. Here's some cool snippets, hope you enjoy." And that's literally it. No plot synopsis, no indication as to character predicaments. Nothing. And why would showing older faces reattach you to a franchise "many" have forgotten about? Who the hell has forgotten about Star Wars? It's STAR WARS. Only one of the most lucrative franchises in the history of cinema.

Not a fan of the new lightsabre. Seems like a hokey way to just add something to an already iconic piece.

So can we assume the Troopers are no longer clones based off the opening scene?

The Falcon scene was awesome. It almost gave me motion sickness.

Indeed Maul was a cool looking badguy with his double blade saber, too bad he was....cut short.

And the movie has easily 5 times the budget of the originals.
