That would make a lot of sense because I don't see the practical use of the hilt guards on it, even though I think it looks awesome.
Hmmm,
[Show spoiler]resurrection in the Star Wars universe
. That's a little more spiritual than the movies have ever gone before. Could be interesting!

Many (if not most) armies have certain physical requirements.

They should've been more concerned with getting people who could shoot properly, instead of worrying about height. The troops in the OT couldn't hit the broad side of a moon.

What makes any of you think that they stopped using clones? I don't remember that in any of the films. Where's the proof?

Looks good. So nice to see the Falcon engaging Tie fighters again. That's what she was born for after all Hearing the Williams score again is pretty cool too. I guess he recently worked on this. I was there when Ep 4 first hit and became a cultural icon forever so it really draws me in to see this. You gotta believe that the talent at Disney, Lucasfilm and Bad Robot will return to the roots of the franchise and produce a real gem. Soooo much talent. Is that Carrie Fisher's daughter on the square speeder, hmm? That would be cool 30 years later. Gotta be careful with that light saber, though. Looks like castration waiting to happen from a low block with that thing

Probably mainly EU, which was canon up until recently...

As far as us not getting shots of the originals in the teaser, I actually like it after I thought about it.

This is the first bit of mass marketing for this film/the new trilogy and they are getting the hype built up based on this film itself and not just throwing out flashes of Hamill, Fisher and Ford saying, "LOOK! They are back! Come watch!"

They'll be part of the draw and marketing later of course, but I like that they are starting the push off in this way.

He did spend a lot of time on Tatooine, he can't have been meditating all that time Luke was growing up ... as I said it's wishful thinking. It would also be a nice segue back to that planet. There aren't any Skywalkers on it anymore!

There would be no need for an Imperial Academy if you could fill your ranks with clones.

Definitely a tease. We see three actors in the teaser, but no indication if any of the three will be a Jedi or not.

I hope the Old Empire isn't in this too much, but it looks like it will be from the looks of this. I suppose some new threat could've commandeered tie fighters and storm troopers though...

A YouTube commenter is whining and complaining about the trailer because... tie fighters weren't designed to fly in the atmosphere? I think that has to be a new fanboy low that I've ever seen.

I wish people would stop considering EU as canon. It's just glorified fan fiction.

I like that the Falcon has got a new rectangular Radar dish after losing the original escaping the second Death Star

Sorry, should have said does it make sense within the movie's universe, which goes with your practical comment.

They stopped using Clones and started using ordinary people. It was a simple way of taking (I can't remember if they were drafted or not) all the young men and women who might rise up against the Empire and have them on your side, whilst the people enlisted thought they were doing their part for the Galaxy (as well as having the opportunity to leave places like Tatooine, like Biggs did and what Luke wanted to do) fighting against the evil Rebellion.

So only the humans joined?

Eh, not that impressed. I'll have to see more before I can say whether I'll be seeing this in theaters or just wait for the home video release.

I'm not a Trekker/ie by any means, but I can love both movie series. Same with Star Wars. I don't care what people will say about this movie on release I am going in with wide open arms looking for a good time. And if you thought there was obvious CGI in the teaser (it all looked spiffy to me), please remember that we are still over a year away from seeing this thing finished in the theater. Something tells me the only reason we even got this teaser this early is fan outcry. JJ probably would have held it back a bit longer if he could have.
I've got no problem with updating things as I think some of the stuff is good and it is set 30 or so years after Jedi so things should evolve. My issue is they have been selling this movie as a return to the old Star Wars style - less cgi, more storytelling - yet we see the exact same stuff that Lucas did in the prequels which is cgi for cgi sake. Yeah, that shot of the Falcon was cool but why the roll? What is up with that ball droid? Just in that trailer there were a lot of "look what we can do with cgi" shots - will the movie be like that? Like I said, wait and see but the trailer really didn't do anything to impress me.

LOL, suuuuuuure. I bet you anything you'll see this in theaters. If you saw the PT in theaters you'll see this, because Abrahms could've fallen asleep during the whole time this was filmed, and it would still be better than the PT.
