Yup, at the end, Luke wins not because he fights but because he doesn't fight.
True. Yoda knew that he himself was not strong enough to defeat Palpatine, so how was a student going to defeat him. Yoda hoped, like Luke, that there was still good in Anakin. Since it really was up to Anakin to bring balance to the force. Not Luke. Luke was merely the instrument to bring back Anakin to the light side of the force. Luckily Yoda/Luke's gamble worked and the prophecy fulfilled.

It only needs explanation if you insist on pushing the prequels onto the originals (which I don't). TESB and RotJ set up Jedi training differently than the prequels (which upped the scale and duration of training - not to mention the stuff with the extreme age requirements).

The whole "bringing balance in the Force" thing has already been adressed in the "Mortis" story arc in the (canon) Clone Wars series.

It was supposed to be Anakin, but he refused to take his rightful place, and the whole thing ended up in a wash which hinted at the devastation that was coming.

Why don't you just admit it's a religious symbol...

On a serious note, I'm really digging on the new light saber look. I personally think they could have done without the cross-guards (I think it's a little silly/gimmicky), but it's not a deal-breaker.

I like the guards. Somebody else mentioned Game of Thrones and I had a very similar 'whoa, cool two-handed weapon' reaction.

Well, mine was more D&D based than Game of Thrones but still.

Oh sorry I've only watched the trailer once, haven't had time to do my theological analysis yet. I'll get to that right after my psychoanalysis and publish my thesis later.

I stayed away from anything related to the making of this movie until watching the teaser a few minutes ago. I really did not want to hear anything about it or make speculation, was only looking forward to seeing the first images when they would be release. Can't wait for the movie next year, will not speculate on anything nor try to analyze anything I saw so far in these 88 seconds. I am sure these images will be analysed, inspected, destructed, speculated..well name it in abundance by the Internet community and the fans. Frankly the fans are the reasons I post less and less on the Internet and don't even attend conventions anymore. Overall I am looking forward to Star Wars being back next year.

What do you mean? You don't want you make all sorts of uninformed speculations and claims, only to get into internet arguments with others who make different uninformed speculations and claims?

That is the obvious answer, but there appears to be too much space between the blades. Regardless, the weapon is cool as hell.

I'm more curious if the makeup of the blades. They appear to be less uniform and more fiery than the blades we've seen before.

I've been doing just that for decades, and can tell you it's been absolutely wonderful. Year after glorious year, nothing but bliss.
Now Episode VII is just around the corner. Rebels is a treat to watch. The stand alone films are on the way.
As a content Star Wars fan, I couldn't be happier!
