Sucks for Clemson but definitely a great hire for SMU. Given the massive poll of HS talent in the state of Texas there's no excuse for that program not being at or near the top of the AAC. I think he'll turn things around.

Point spreads for championship week. Am I the only one surprised at the Big-Ten title line? I thought OSU would be a slight favorite.

That surprises me too. It'll be interesting to see how they do without Barrett, since it took them a few games to get going when he first started.

It does. He helped revive the program. CU should promote Jeff Scott. He's been his understudy for 4 years now. If CU doesn't move him to OC he will follow Morris and be his OC. Scott can recruit his a$$ off. Really think he will get the OC job at CU.

A missing Ohio State University football player has been found dead, authorities said Sunday. Kosta Karageorge, a fifth-year senior, had missed practice Wednesday and hadn't been seen since.

Sgt. Richard Weiner, with Columbus police, said that Karageorge died from what appears to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
His body was found inside a Dumpster and identified at the scene through tattoos, Weiner said. A handgun was also recovered at the scene.
It was not immediately clear how long the body had been in the Dumpster, Weiner said. An investigation is ongoing.

"The Ohio State University Department of Athletics was shocked and saddened to learn today of the death of student-athlete Kosta Karageorge, a senior from Columbus.

"Our thoughts and prayers are with the Karageorge family, and those who knew him, during this most difficult time," the department said in a statement.
Last week, Karageorge's parents told police that their son had complained about concussion symptoms before he disappeared.

In a copy of the missing persons report obtained by CNN, Susan Karageorge told police she received a text from her son about 1:30 a.m. Wednesday that said, "I am sorry if I am an embarrassment but these concussions have my head all f***ed up."

She added that her son has had several concussions and confusion "spells."
Karageorge's sister, Sophia, told Cleveland.com that he was upset about something Tuesday night and that his roommates said he went for a walk.
His cell phone was last pinged about 2:30 a.m. Wednesday, the sister said.

I wasn't sure if anyone would go after him just because his buyout at Colorado State is $7.5 million. I guess Florida can afford that though, as well as the $6.3 buyout they're paying to Muschamp.

In a conflicting report, SB Nation says Hugh Freeze has already been offered the Florida job for around $4.2-$4.3 million per year and while he's considering the offer Ole Miss is working on offering him a new contract in the $4 million per year range. Florida denies that any offer has been made to any coach.

The price of college football coaches has gone completely off the deep end. I'm hearing Morris's contract with SMU is in the neighborhood of $3.5 million a year. He's been a solid coodinator but he's never even been a HC before. And we're talking about a non-power five school that averages around 20k fans a game paying this kind of money. That's insane.

I guess the donors are still there but they have a LONG way to go to get close to where they were in the early-mid 80's. Back then they were part of a very good conference. Nowadays they're in a non-power conference.

ESPN is predicting GT as #8 in the CFP tomorrow. That gives GT an outside shot at the Playoff top 4.

Winner of Arizona/Oregon is in. Either TCU or Baylor as long as one wins. FSU/GT, Alabama and OSU/Wisconsin would compete for the other 3 spots. I don't think Mizzou gets in with a win over Alabama, but maybe. And could Alabama lose the SEC and still make it? ESPN does project Mizzou will be #9, but that seems crazy given they didn't beat anybody this week.

Georgia Tech has finally extended an offer to coach Paul Johnson for a contract extension, after an absence of negotiations for several months.

“We’re exchanging numbers now and we’re actually in discussion for an extension,” Jack Reale, Johnson’s agent, said Monday after receiving the extension offer. “I don’t want to characterize anything further than that.”

Wait so Brady Hoke might actually keep his job at Michigan? Hard to believe they're even considering it after 5, 6, and 7 loss seasons over the past three years. The team has gotten worse every year he's been there.

Hoke is lucky they only have an interim athletic director right now. It might save his job.

I just can't see a scenario where Hoke stays. Between the team's performance and the changes the former AD made they've lost much of the student body and fan base, and they need a home run hire to get them back. The big problem Michigan may be facing though is they can't make a home run hire because none of the top candidates will want the job, so they may end up in a situation similar to what happened with Hoke where they end up with a coach that was not at the top of their list of candidates.

Hoke's buyout drops from $3 million to $2 million if he's fired after December 31, but I can't imagine they'd keep Hoke for another month and not be able to interview potential replacements just to save $1 million.
