Waltz has not been confirmed as blofeld, I think it would be cool if belucci was actually blofeld.

Wishfully hoping that they will find some way to connect spectre to quantum.

The image of the bullet hole shaped like the spectre symbol was really cool and reminds me of the haunting final shot from on her majesty's secret service.

Great news all around.

I'm more excited about Spectre than I am about Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

Good casting choices, especially Monica Bellucci and the new Aston Martin.

Will Spectre turn out to be the mother company of Quantum, the group that appeared in Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace?

Great name for a Bond film though

I said in the Skyfall thread, that Moriaty from Sherlock would be an awesome Bond villain, I can see him playing the 006 kind of character in this one.

Awesome I can't wait for this.

An absolutely solid cast line up and the new Aston Martin is gorgeous.

I hope the new Aston Martin doesn't have the stupid invisibility cloak mechanic from the Vanquish in Die Another Day.

Easily my most anticipated movie of next year, and today's announcement just made the hype so much bigger for me. Just take my money now.

Holy crap! I never ever would've predicted SPECTRE as the title for Bond 24. Awesome! I can't imagine Blofeld isn't in this if they're actually using SPECTRE in the movie and even naming it after the organization.

My only question is what does this mean for Quantum? Were they disposed of during the time between QoS and Skyfall? Are they now a part of SPECTRE? Is EON just ditching them without fanfare? It would be ironic if the latter was the case. They originally ditched SPECTRE and Blofeld when they lost the rights. Now imagine them ditching Quantum after reacquiring them.

The OHMSS image came to us right away, and probably something done for the true fans, it being Blofeld that put the bullet into the head of Mrs Bond and causing the broken glass in the first place.

There might be some vague reference to Quantum, but a lot of QoS came out of it being hurried into production during the writer-strike, leaving the whole thing looking rushed and muddled. Given that Jesper Christensen has been a right dick about the two he was in: "...they were sh*t" EON are probably happy to sweep Quantum under carpet and go with what they originally wanted, but were unable to because of legal wranglings. Hell, the reason why is they killed Blofeld of in such a goofy way in For Your Eyes Only was so as to destroy the character and (hopefully) damage when Never Say Never Again was due to use him.

Although Charles Gray is the one incarnation Waltz might like to avoid, as the slick, camp smarm grates, the problem is that to go with the visual style of Telly Savalas or especially Donald Pleasance, would be to have anyone under 30 yelling "Doctor Evil" when he appears. Depressing, but true. There is always the possibility of having an origin story, where a climactic battle/accident sees him getting scarred and losing his hair. OK, a little Marvel Universe-like, but it would be a better way of prepping a modern audience for the more traditional look.

There is one other interpretation Waltz(assuming he's Blofeld) can go with. Max von Sydow in Never Say Never Again. It was a brief appearance, but he actually did a decent acting job without seeming too campy(especially compared to the rest of the film) and he looked nothing like the Pleasance/Savalas incarnations.

Yeah, he really wasn't bad, but it had more to do with Von Sydow being awesome at everything he does. We didn't mention him as is not canon - there are those who might say that the Woody Allen composite from Casino Royale was almost as (in)valid.

I think it sounds awesome, if a little bit too much like Skyfall, I'm certainly over the moon for the time being however.

His movie wasn't canon, but the plot and character were lifted from Thunderball. So there's no reason that can't be the type of Blofeld we see in SPECTRE. I'm certain he'll be treated far more seriously than he was in either You Only Live Twice("Kill Bond! Now!") or the dreadful Diamonds Are Forever where they had him in drag for chrissakes!
