Sweet! I have always loved this movie. The DVD's quality is pretty good, except it's in full-screen format.

It's the Citizen Kane of rocket-powered Pontiac Trans-Am movies.

Yup, I've had the DVD for years, in one of Warner's old cardboard cases. 4x3, but not a pan & scan, I think it's open-matt. Great to get this in HD.

I own this Triple Feature DVD with Stroker Ace & Sharky's Machine and I'll be happy to getting this and Sharky's Machine in both Blu.

Great fun movie, back when real people risked life and limb to entertain us. Sadly, never again will you see a flick like this, except maybe from Tarantino (Death Proof).

This is great.

I still wish there was some way to obtain the TV version as well, as they added a TON of previously unseen footage to the film.

Hooper is also very good in terms of picture. It's a much brighter film, thematically and visually, than Sharky's Machine, but also a little bit softer. Like Sharky's Machine, it's a very natural looking transfer. It looks like film. Maybe a higher bitrate could have made both of these movies look better, but you certainly don't see the lack of it. I didn't see any blocking or aliasing in what I've looked at so far. The soundtrack on Hooper is a perfectly adequate mono track, but Sharky's 5.1 really shines. It has a great sense of space without being gimmicky. They're both good discs, and maybe seem better than they are because expectations were low. Huge upgrades from DVD, as they should be.

Pretty much in line with what I see, and the blu-ray.com review. I give the edge to Sharky's Machine in picture and sound though.

I think Burt did a Jimmy Stewart imitation but I don´t remember what James Best did
