Wow, the Russo Bros. must be the biggest tools of all time. I bet they would eat dog food if Marvel told them to.

I guess Whedon is tired of directing Avengers films already?

I would be, it's not like there's a lot of meat and potatoes to the stories, at least not yet.

What are you smoking? More like Marvel likes what they did with Winter Soldier so much and what their plans are for Civil War that they want and trust them to do a great job with the Infinity War films. They don't seem to be the kind of filmmakers that take it in the ass and let studios/producers control them outright.

That doesn't make sense considering he wrote Avengers and Age of Ultron which I'm sure will be a much stronger film.

I agree. Seems Marvel Studios are extremely happy with the Russo's on The Winter Soldier and are ecstatic about CIVIL WAR. Of course they'd be eager to have them direct AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR Two-Parter. Hell, I'm floored by the decision they're being chosen to direct AVENGERS 3! In fact I wouldn't mind if they were chosen to direct more MCU films and I'd LOVE it if they'd make a THE PUNISHER, based heavily from Garth Ennis, with Tom Jane back as a 3-Part pilot to a Netflix TV series!
2016 can't get here fast enough for CIVIL WAR & DOCTOR STRANGE. Especially with the Russo's completing their Captain America Duology.
They handle characters extremly well along with directing and action. So yeah Infinity War can't get here fast enough and the build up to it.

Marvel Wants Spider-Man Cameos in Avengers: Infinity War Part I & II

Quote:
Recently, we all learned Sony has been working on a deal with Marvel Studios that would allow Spider-Man to enter the Marvel cinematic universe. His first appearance could be a cameo in Captain America: Civil War. So, it was assumed Marvel Studio might want to have Spidey make appearances in Avengers 3 and 4 as well, but now we have confirmation of it.

Val Broeksmit has been rummaging through Sony's dirty laundry and he came across an interesting email exchange between Andrew Gumpert, the President of Worldwide Business Affairs and Operations for Columbia Pictures, and Sony Entertainment Chairman Amy Pascal. In it, Gumpert told Pascal, if the deal goes through and Marvel gains control of Spider-Man they don't want Spidey's next solo film to be a continuation of the Captain America: Civil War plot just because he would be making a cameo in it. But, Spidey's new universe would "exist in a world where that story has happened" and "superheroes are now divided into two groups." Gumpert also shared details about Spider-Man's planned Captain America 3 cameo. Tony Stark/Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.) would recruit Spider-Man and give him a suit. He would also meet Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) and of course, Captain America (Chris Evans). Furthermore, Marvel would like to start the next Spider-Man solo film with Peter Parker back in high school, living with his Aunt May at their home in Queens.

That's not all! Marvel wants Spider-Man to appear in the Avengers: Infinity War movies that will be released May 4, 2018 and May 3, 2019. In order to make that happen Marvel wants Sony to guarantee that a second standalone Spider-Man film would be released in 2019. Marvel wants that reassurance because they don't want there to be a long delay between his solo films.

Gumpert appears to be in favor of Marvel's plan and believes it will benefit Sony more than Marvel. It also appears that Pascal would rather hold off on the solo Spider-Man films until after Avengers 3 and 4 are released.

Why are they calling this part 1 and 2? The craze only applies to books that are being split in two.

19 movies leading up to this grand finale. I think it deserves a two-parter myself. I'm definitely not complaining.

If it was actually the grand finale. You know there are going to be more films taking place after these 2.

This is the grand finale for this story. Of course more stories are going to be done but the story of Thanos and the Infinity Gauntlet will be coming to an end.

Spider-man cameos would be cool as well as a Wolverine or other X-man cameo.

Why does it have to be just a cameo, if he's supposed to be central to the Civil War plot?

The "Civil War" plot is going to be different in the MCU: Spider-Man isn't important to how they're proceeding.

Edit: IIRC, Marvel has also said that the script for CA:CW is already so far along that Spider-Man wouldn't be able to fit in except for a cameo, such as a post-credit scene.

Yes and since Marvel didn't have access to Spidey when they first started working on the film, it seems Black Panther was brought in to fill the void of Spider-Man.

Being a bit of a smart ass here but I have Infinity War collected in one hardbound graphic novel, same with the Infinity Gauntlet story line that came right before it. They were originally released as single issues of course but when you take into account that all of them together made a single book/story, it's kind of the same thing.

Infinity Gauntlet was about Thanos having all of the Infinity Gems/Stones trying to please death. Infinity War was a whole other epic that took place shortly after. I'm curious as to how much of Infinity War is going to be used for the movie if at all. Because where things have been going in the films so far, it's leading to Thanos getting the gems/stones and the gauntlet but since they're not calling the movie Infinity Gauntlet I'm curious as to if they're going to mash a bit of both epic stories into one or if they're just using the word "War" in the title because it might sound better than Avengers: Infinity Gauntlet.

The Infinity Wars WERE books, you know. Three different six-issue comic series to be exact; The Infinity Gauntlet, The Infinity War, and The Infinity Crusade. That's a lot of material to adapt and I am plenty happy they are taking their time with it.
