Oh, no denying that. I just have zero interest in them, myself.

Don't forget The Food of the Gods & Tentacles!

I'm looking forward to someone releasing Kingdom of the Spiders, The Kindred, Ben/Willard, Freakmaker (aka Mutations), Dead Line (aka Raw Meat), Children Shouldn't Play With Dead Things, Alligator, Parasite (hopefully in 3-D) and Blood Beach.

Food of the Gods and Tentacles are co-features for me, I dont like them as much as the others..
The Kindred is with Synapse and in court still
Kingdom of the Spiders is no longer with SF
Freakmaker might be PD ???
Raw Meat - someone will release it
Children Shouldnt Play with Dead Things - VCI is rumored to be doing an HD master for it
Parasite is with Lionsgate
Alligator was with Lionsgate but not sure anymore
Blood Beach - not to start any internet rumors but I believe this film just might be the mystery title from Synapse.. that is my guess..going out on a limb and if Im wrong, Im wrong

I have rethought my entire feelings about Scream Factory's 2015 slate with these two titles being announced.

Before all we could really see where their back-burner/lower tier titles (which I am still VERY MUCH excited for!) but the pizzazz was missing. Now their slate looks a lot more rounded, and I couldn't be happier. I can't wait for more announcements, and I plan to splurge a lot more on movies next year...

I'm so excited for more announcements with how picky I am. Just last night I bought Lord of Illusions off of Amazon and now I only need/want Vincent Price collection vol. II. Sadly, Ravenous didn't have a good transfer and Dog Soldiers sounds like it's going to be the same shit transfer from before.

I'm crossing my fingers for Mad Max and Escape From NY.

As always, thanks for the info!! It would be such a surprise to finally watch Blood Beach in HD. Would be nice if Lionsgate could release the 3D version of Parasite.

If you've ever read a pretty good magazine called Monster, Jeane Carmen's son claims that there are good prints of Monster of Piedras Blancas, that are shown at movie revival houses throughout California. He also says that Paramount has this title's rights. Hopefully, a blu-ray release is in the future???

I recommended it to him the other week! It's a great read, with plenty of cool little vintage ads and such thrown in, plus coverage of all kinds of obscure foreign monster flicks. Buy it monthly from Amazon, folks! (I don't think it's available elsewhere, and not by subscription.)

Can't say I'm surprised that they went after the sequels, especially with the amount of requests for them.

I agree completely. I'd love double features of that and even more so these 2...

I'd be happy just getting Sorority House Massacre 2 though...

I figured someone in this thread would know the answer.
How do you find out who owns the rights to certain movies?

Is there a site?

If it's not a studio, how do you track down the owner of the film?
I would guess this information would be public domain.

If this is the wrong place to ask, not sure where it goes.

Thanks

If you're savvy enough with a copyright register, I believe you can find out the original owners, or a chain of owners.

Imdb is pretty good for finding out who has previously released things.

But as for currently owning? I don't know. I know you definitely can't find out who has currently lisenced stuff.

Eh, part ii is downright terrible, bordering on unwatchable. I don't want SPM2 to be the film that financially turns them off from slashers.

So many great titles are still out there in limbo. Find a way to get them.

They're slowly trickling out, from all of the current indie labels. But I do agree that there seems to be a stalemate currently, with the same batch of titles coming up over and over. The problem is many of these films are tied up with the major studios, who couldn't care less about catalog titles. Many are willing to license but there's still Lionsgate, who probably holds the majority of the remaining smaller, lesser-known titles. Then there are the complicated rights issue titles plus the ones without useable elements. But, hey, if Madman is getting the 4K treatment then at least something is being done right

Lionsgate gave me new found hope that they'll release more of their past acquisitions with this years Leprechaun Box set. Lionsgate seems to have an affinity for putting out films in multi-movie sets (look at some of their last few years worth of DVD material) so I have hope that we'll eventually get much more from lionsgate, though not likely much at a time. Universal is still sitting on a pile of highly requested films as well.
