One of Spielberg's best films IMO.

I'm hoping this carries over all the extras from the 2-Disc SE, so I can retire my copy, but I'm not going to bank on it. Universal didn't port over all the extras from the 2-Disc SE of Jarhead, which was released (and went OOP) around the same time.

And on another note, this is the first time I've ever heard of a 3-Disc set for The Terminal. I must be slipping in my old age...

If this is an official release shouldn't there have been news about this release. its going to be released in 2 months and usually such a high profile catalog title gets announced pretty early before its release. I am beginning to get a very bad feeling about this one now

I don't think the 2-disc MUNICH DVD was pulled, it was just produced in SERIOUSLY, insanely limited numbers. Like numbers so limited I wonder why they even produced it in the first place... maybe a contractual obligation? I know DVDs and BDs need to sell over a certain threshold to be profitable, and I can't imagine how this one did.

[Show spoiler]

It was unavailable from Amazon as soon as it came out, and I hadn't preordered because at the time I preferred to buy from real stores like Borders, etc, because Amazon packages tended to arrive banged up, so I called every store in LA, freaking LA!, and the only one that got it in was the old Virgin Megastore on Hollywood Blvd next to the Chinese theater. I raced there and paid full retail price, $40 if I remember right, and snapped it up. Even they only had three copies, as I remember.

And yep, the same thing happened with JARHEAD, which I didn't buy, but heard about. Universal was doing strange things with these collector's editions. I didn't have nearly as much trouble getting the 3-disc TERMINAL the year before though, my Best Buy in San Diego got a bunch of them.

Really? I never heard about that. What was on the third disc?

Soundtrack I thought.

The release was limited as, my guess would be the film disappointed theatrically so they thought the market was not there.

I never realized the Munich 2 Disc was so limited. Good thing I rushed out to buy it on day one, I suppose. Absolutely gorgeous packaging.

Ah, no, he was talking about a retailer exclusive third disc for MUNICH on DVD. I had never heard about that for this title, but they usually included just one or two featurettes.

It looks like it contained a 28 minute doc by Bouzereau called MUNICH: THE EXPERIENCE that was not included on the 2-disc set.

http://forum.dvdtalk.com/archive/t-464865.html

Hope it's included, with all the 2-disc material, on the BD.

Minority Report, Catch Me If You Can, and Munich in 3 years, where did that Spielberg disappear to?

I do think this, along with Sneakers, and The Andromeda Strain will be BB exclusives. Perhaps just for a short time though. BB rarely are the first, and only to list upcoming catalog releases, and the mobile site does say only at BB for all three. Probably just a matter of time before the regular site says it too.

Very excited to see this thread generate 6 pages of comments in 24 hours. The film was overlooked when it came out, and isn't talked about a great deal anymore. I'm happy to see that so many people remember it as I do, as one of Spielberg's masterpieces.

I hope the BD contains all the bonus features from both the 2-disc and Walmart DVD editions. I think all his BDs so far have ported over all the DVD extras, and have even added the trailers the DVDs often lacked, so I'm not too worried there.

UPDATE--I see others have chimed in to say typed below...

I need correct myself, since I didn't remember which retailer had this 3rd disc. I pulled the disc out. It was a Wal-Mart exclusive and labeled as such on the disc artwork. It is just over 27 minutes long and is labeled on the disc itself as " Experience the Story Behind the Film Munich"

It has no menu screen, is 4X3 and the doc's title is shown on-screen as "Munich The Experience".

Hope that helps.

Steven

Been wanting to see this since it came out. The last few years, been holding off on blind buying to wait for the blu ray. Definitely going to pick this up.

Late to the party on this, but this is fantastic news. Don't understand why it has taken so long, but glad it's finally coming out.
