Don't get me wrong I love Will & Grace but I don't think 3 set sitcoms really need the HD treatment, I think they look good enough on DVD.

Then you haven't watched the DVD set recently. The compression is awful.

No my ex had the set, I should have said they should be in HD but not on Blu-ray.

I emailed Amazon and asked them why W&G was pulled, they said their licensing agreement expired.

Season 4 is currently airing on SONY TV in the UK, being distributed by MGM. The channel doesn't broadcast in HD, but fingers crossed it'll be 16:9. I'll be able to check when the next episode airs tomorrow.

I know this is cheeky, but did anyone manage to rip the episodes from Amazon Instant? At this point, I'd rather convert them to Digital and stick them on iTunes myself rather than wait for a Blu-ray release and now I know there's 16:9 masters out there, I won't settle for anything less. I don't have the necessary equipment to record the airings off SONY TV (if they do indeed turn out to be 16:9) and it'll have logos and ads and blah...

Unfortunately, it was the same 4:3 transfers we all know and hate, but the MGM logo did show at the end. If the show gets a new DVD (hopefully Blu) release in the UK, I guess it'd be released by MGM/Fox and hopefully be 16:9, but since there's nothing technically wrong with the current Universal set and given that only came out 2/3 years ago, I'd say that's a long way away.

But I will find those 16:9 masters that went on Amazon if it kills me.

Someone earlier said SuperRTL in Germany was broadcasting S4 onwards in 16:9 and I've just found the theme opening on YT, so some TVrips have got to be floating around on the net somewhere unless the uploader DVRed it themselves. I've just sent a message asking where they obtained it from. Will post back if there's a response.

Germany broadcasted Will & Grace in widescreen starting with episode S04E10 or E11, I'm not sure now. So, not the entire S4 that amazon had.

I found them online, starting with episode 9 - but only for streaming and obviously German-dubbed.

To quote Jack/Cher, "if I could turn back tiiimme", I'd have somehow ripped those masters on Amazon.

This is an especially ridiculous comment to make after there was HD streaming that was removed. If you have something on Blu-ray it can't be taken away, even if it goes out of print you can still buy a used copy.

Even though I 100% agree, at this point in time, I'd settle for a Digital HD of Will & Grace. The show is so overlooked, I doubt it'll get the Blu treatment it deserves in the US.

On a seperate note, did anyone catch Partners - the short-lived show after W&G by the same creators? Any good?

Well, W&G only switched to HD I think about halfway of S7. It would still be nice to have those episodes in HD, but I also hope that I'll be able (hopefully soon rather than later) to see the full series remastered

Regarding Partners, I think the last episodes (the ones unaired in the USA) were definitely an improvement, but some of the first ones were just not great.
I watched it based on the creators and some of the cast, but I can see why it was short lived.

Btw, Phil92, can you figure out the channel name of that version of S04E09 that you saw in widescreen? Weird because I vividly remember that it started with episode 11 or so, and not before.

I found it online the other day - shock, the link has now gone down

- but I couldn't tell the channel because it was blurred out on the top left side.

I found a japanese site that has season 7 & 8 streaming on it in 16:9. They're old HDTV rips in SD though, and they have hard japanese subs on them. :/
