I don't pay attention to this kinds of information, its manutia in the grand scheme of things. Perhaps this is just were HD DVD guys get their software, and blu-ray folks get their from everywhere. Everything to me is not some sort of conspiracy to undermine Blu-ray.

I agree, I'm just surprise Blu-ray Planet Earth is selling better than both POTC, but then again maybe Amazon is where you go to buy Planet Earth.

I agree partially w/ Sir Terrence. Also, at BBuy this title is about $80-90, and only $66.95 on Amazon. That alone explains why it's so high on both formats. As for it being higher on HDDVD, there can be many reasons. HMM noted that it could be due to the dearth of titles available for HDDVD. Yes, The Matrix is out, but that's a re-issue of that title, albeit in a different format. PE is a new release that nobody could get on regular DVD prior to its release in either HD format.

Yes...but still, PE on HD DVD has been in the DVD top 10 chart for something like 45 days now.
...just sayin', just sayin'...

Like everyone I have been curious about this myself. I think something is up.

Not only on the HD-DVD side, but the Blu-Ray side as well.

Who the hell would buy PE over POTC? PE has been the best seller for BOTH formats for a long as* time now. Especially on HD-DVD. I know if I just bought an HD player - PE would be on my list but not at the TOP of my list.

Something fishy is going on.

Difference is when Casino Royale was #1, it was #1 everywhere, Amazon, DVD Empire, Deep Discount, Best Buy, Circuit City, etc.

It's impossible for PE to be ranked so differently at various sites unless there is some sort of artificial demand at one of them. PE should be ranked tops everywhere if its really selling all that well.

PE on Blu-ray is ranked #12 on DVD Empires All Time Best Seller List.

But PE on HD DVD is ranked #64???

I don't buy into the theory that HD DVD PE buyers are buying twice the amount, and only from Amazon.

How about with DVD having 500x the purchase power of HD DVD, yet PE is ahead of Apocalypto DVD.

Apocalypto was the #1 DVD sold in the country for the week ending May 27th, according to Nielsen. Yet, somehow, an HD DVD is more popular?

Then again, PE DVD is #1 on Amazon, and not even in the top 20 according to Nielsen. Clearly there are some other measurements rather than unit sales that affect the "popularity" ranking.
