Just checked my Roku 2 and Samsung phone and the VUDU app has subs so I think you're good.

Yeah I use Vudu as my on-line retail go to service, all my UV copies are redeemed there. Plus I'm always renting those 99 cent movies. So this might be a nice little toy and run smoother than the app in my Samsung blu-ray player.

I bought it yesterday and yes it does officially have subtitles!! Yeah!!!

Anyway quick question for everyone. Is there a way to power down or turn off the Vudu stick without taking it out? It runs really hot and I would like to to last for a while but it running hot 24 - 7 can't be good.... Any ideas?

I tried everything to power down and no luck, for now we just have to unplug the Spark when not in use. Hopefully a update will fix that.

I thought this would be for a better sale on it. I have no need for one besides the monthly codes, which sounds like a good plus. If they ever discount these heavily due to overstock I might pick one up just for the credit available.

Well the Spark cost $24.99, and I got and e-mail saying I was getting $25 in Vudu credit. So the Spark is kinda free.

There doesn't seem to be any detailed reviews of this anywhere that I could see

Afaik the spark outputs the correct 1080p24 and all other streaming sticks convert to 1080p60. I also found tivo boxes able to output 1080p24. All smart BD players also convert to 1080p60. I have their old hard drive based box which can also transport the correct 1080p24. For most this is unnecessary but I have very high end gear with two Lumagen 4K capable video processors. I need the signal as unmolested as possible.

I always thought about picking one picking one up just for that reason. I have been told you can only spend $5 a month from the $25.

The Promo expired a while ago, maybe in September.
They mailed a $5 promo code once a month for 5 months. The promo codes had a 30 day expiration and had to redeem within 30 days, so you couldn't build up the credit to more than $10 (if you delayed a code redemption).

I hope this didn't expire, they are still advertising it. I just ordered one last night for in store pickup. I want to use it for the bedroom tv, I have an apple tv in there but have a lot of stuff on vudu.

Just looked on vudu, it expires 9/1/16

Yes, it still works. I picked up one a month ago and have gotten my first 2 codes.

Yes looks they updated the offer with a new expiration date. All the Sparks in my Walmart still have the offer sticker on them. I don't know if they are selling great and probably just better to renew the offer.

They probably aren't selling well. At my Walmart they've marked them down to $5. Needless to say that wiped them out quickly.

i thought about getting one of these for my parents, but after reading everyone's comments, it sounds like my better solution would be to get them a roku or a bluray player that has apps. as far as rokus, i'm not sure where to start as there are a couple models, but at least now i can narrow down my search

I picked one up for 95% off the last hour that the long beach walmart was open before it shut its doors forever last week.
the only reason i bought it was for the 25 dollar credit.
the only bad thing is it spreads out one credit a month for 5 months and not just one lump 25 dollar credit
