Well, in reply to laterspin, I thought when you have a better codec, you have a better encode, and maybe the grain is depicted better etc..

So I checked the printed info on the back cover of the blu ray, and I checked with another website for specs and I am making a note of it. The back cover does not include extras. The text Dolby TrueHD 5.1 is printed in very large font on the back cover. So it is an error?

Yes, the back cover states TrueHD in error, and mentions English HoH subs, which are not present on the disc.

Here is the BDInfo scan.

There are no extras, just a static menu screen. There is no Sony logo attached to the film, instead the film is billed as an Icon production, presented by Exclusive Media, however, I don't have the Sony to compare.

I will be watching the disc soon, and can report back with my impressions.

Surely you could just simply buy 2 copies so that it makes you happy in all areas, either the Australian disc with the superior encode and bitrate for the film itself, and the U.S disc for the extras, or the German disc as you've stated above, and the release U.S release just for the cover

I have not yet, I am very behind, sorry.

I will update the thread ASAP, but I also don't own the Sony BD, either, so perhaps another member that owns both editions would be better suited to help you.
