Hellraiser complete collection would be one of the best things ever. Although I assume very difficult to pull off.

Another interesting one would be a cube box set. I know the first one has been released on blu. Not sure about 2 & 3. Haven't watched my blu of the first one yet, so I'm not sure what kind of treatment it got.

Really? I just got it a few weeks ago on Amazon.ca for $6 or so. Funny thing was, it had a sticker on it from a pharmacy or something that I've never heard of before. Forget what it was but I thought that was odd.

There's no official US release. I got my copy from Amazon UK. I don't expect the sequels to come out on Blu-ray so I made my own combo pack: the first film on BD and it's 2 sequels on DVD.

Before someone runs over to Scream Factory's Facebook page and asks (lol) , the Cube films appear to be in the hands of Lionsgate
But its on blu ray overseas

I noticed that too (for all 3 DVDs) but it looks like the rights were with Alliance (eOne) in Canada for the bluray. Not sure if that makes any difference or is a good sign? Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think Cube was a Canadian made movie, which means the original rights may still be in the hands of a Canadian studio but were sold to Lionsgate for distribution abroad at one point. Kind of opposite to Scream's release of Ginger Snaps. I tried to buy that during their shocktober sale but I couldn't because they only have the rights to distribute in the US.

It would really depend on the terms that Trimark (Lionsgate) agreed to when they originally picked up US distribution rights to the film. They've had the US distribution rights for 17-18 years, so I think there's a pretty good chance Lionsgate owns those rights in perpetuity.

It certainly is possible - unless that Canadian studio outright licensed them all to Lionsgate long term. If the rights have changed hands , which is possible, and Alliance / eOne has the Cube films now, theoretically there is a better chance that they will get a USA blu ray release. If theyre still with Lionsgate forget about it. When it comes to title announcements no one can really be 100% sure of who has what unless (A)an insider comes here and speaks up or (B)the studio themselves make an announcement. What I mean by that is, we wont know if Scream Factory has a new deal with, for example, Fox unless they announce a title from that studio such as the Fly or the Fly II (which would not surprise me if they acquired them in time for the San Diego comic con because they are more mainstream , but thats another story for another day)

Critters.
Kingdom of the Spiders.
Cat's Eye.
House.
The Stuff.

And this is a long shot but how about:

The Thing(2011) and The Thing(1982) combined into one long film.
I know if there are any deleted footage scream will sniff them out.

I bolded the answers as it stands right now. They have also shot down the Thing more times than the number posts on this thread

I really miss the announcements. Two weeks into the new year and it's as quiet as it's ever been at Shout/Scream Factory. Has the well run dry?

Well we got The Howling II the other day. Their schedule is set up until May and then there's a number of announced titles which could occupy a good chunk of the June-August slate (bearing in mind Dog Soldiers is also now coming in June):

Tentacles / Reptilicus
Robot Jox
Destroyer/ TBA (I imagine this title would be a good bet to be announced oon)
Scarecrows
The Howling II
Sleepaway Camp II
Sleepaway Camp III

With that in mind, I don't think it's realistic to expect a glut of announcements given that we're still only in the second week of January. I suspect we'll probably know the entire 'Summer of Fear II' slate by the end of March and then gradually learn the remainder of the year's titles up until July like last year.

guess you missed the one about the Howling 2 on the 5th.

***SURPRISE TITLE ANNOUNCEMENT***
1985's HOWLING II will be coming out later on in the Summer! We were not prepared to announce the title at this time but the cat (or, in this case, wolf) was let out of the bag from another source. We have no details at this time and we hope that fans of this cult classic are pleased to see this arrive on Blu-ray for the first time!

Despite the 2011 film being a direct prequel to the 1982 film, I think technical differences between the productions would prevent the two films from gelling particularly well as a singular film.

I'd much rather see a remastered Blu-Ray of 1982 film and a separate release of 2011 film's "Pilot Version" than to see the two films stitched together as one.

No, didn't miss it. That one somehow doesn't qualify for an announcement
Kidding, of course. Howling II has it's fans and I'm glad that Shout will be giving it the star treatment for fans of the film.

It's the original cut of the film. There are a few plot changes, a different prologue and a different final act. There were also a number of practical effects scenes in the "Pilot Version" that were later overimposed with CGI effects in the theatrical cut (aka the "Tetris Version").

IMDB has an FAQ with the breakdown of what had been changed.

I understand that there are fans for these films. No offense to anyone but with the exception of the Escape from New York release, it looks like a very lackluster start to the year, I certainly hope that Scream has a more impressive slate of releases scheduled for the Summer of Fear II.

Well it is what it is. Regardless of people's perceptions of quality they're still releasing some 3-4 titles a month even in the lean early parts of the year, so it's not like they've scaled back to any great extent in terms of numbers. I imagine they're prepping 'bigger' titles for the August-October period, but certainly Escape From New York and Mad Max are as big as anything they've released to date, even if not new to Blu-ray.
