Default Twilight Time's Release Schedule

Just before Christmas, I had a package arrive from TT, when I opened it, it was a copy of The Blob, which confused the hell out of me, since I already had mine. Took me a while of some head scratching before I decided to take the booklet out and saw it was signed by Chuck Russell. I was well chuffed!

Yep, in the index. (As chosen by other readers, in 1979.)

Last Year at Marienbad was one of Medved's original Fifty Worst Films ("Delphine Seyrig...seems to be playing a game of freeze-tag with herself"), hence the confusion.

I keep saying it: Figure out the significance of the title (which shouldn't be too hard by the end of the movie), and it'll make a lot more sense. Still goofy, but more sense.

Blame the consumer, not Fox. They are the ones not buying enough catalog to make it worth their while.

Re-read the portion of your post that I highlighted, I was just making a stupid joke.

Personalized too. What did you do to earn that?

Just got an email from Screen Archives that my order of Breaking Away and Purple Rose of Cairo have shipped. They are not due to be released until the 20th and, based on previous experience, I didn't expect them to even be shipped until at least a few days after that. A rare and pleasant surprise!

I just watched "At the Earth's Core" and The Beast of Hollow Mountain" on blu. If those titles can make it to blu then the remaining Harryhausen movies are a no-brainer!!

Any word on if the new batch of "Fright Night" blu-rays have started to ship? I'm not sure why this movie keeps selling out but here I am one of the brainwashed getting it I think it's a good movie but not a great one.....

I think "Three Worlds of Gulliver" has a good chance of being released by TT since it is the remaining Columbia/Sony Harryhausen title not yet released on Blu-ray. The Warner titles will most certainly not see TT release unless something changes dramatically regarding TT's film providers. Our next best bet is the 20th Century Fox title "One Million Years B.C."

It has a lot in common with some other early '70s science fiction films: arty but with plots and effects that shouldn't be looked at too closely. And bare boobies.

Some were great, like A Clockwork Orange, and some were great attempts, like The Man Who Fell to Earth, but most didn't quite hit the mark but were still worth seeing, like Logan's Run, Zardoz, and Silent Running.

Yes, I know there were no bare breasts in Silent Running, but there would have been had there been a female character.

I would probably buy it anyway, but it seems like a better candidate for someone like Scorpion (through the new connection with Kino) or something.

If I remember correctly, after the truncated version was released domestically on DVD all those years ago, Fox acknowledged that they inadvertently mastered the shorter version. And that they had no plans to re-release the longer cut. The full, uncut version WAS released by Fox on laserdisc years earlier, and it's available uncut on DVD in the UK in a nice anamorphic version that I own.

The point being, should TT (or anyone else) release this on Blu, it shouldn't be too hard to locate uncut elements, as long as whoever puts it out knows to specifically release the longer version. As much as I love Harryhausen and the movie itself, there is no way I would purchase the Blu if it was the shortened version.

As has already been stated, it is likely TT will eventually release 3 WORLDS OF GULLIVER, especially since it contains a nice Bernard Herrmann score and they are all about isolated score audio tracks.

Our best bet for GWANGI, MIGHTY JOE YOUNG and BEAST FROM 20,000 FATHOMS seems to be Warner Archives. I haven't ordered any of their Blu's yet, but I understand OUT OF THE PAST is an awesome release and plan to get it eventually.

Are you referring to the Hammer Collection version of One Million Years, B.C.? I think it's like a black case with Raquel on it in a small photo. If it is what do you think of the transfer? It's down to 10 pounds via Amazon U.K. and I have been debating getting it.

As for Gwangi and Beast I hope Warner Archives releases these because there is a market for them. These are two of my top four Harryhausen movies and it's killing me waiting for them. I'm surprised that they weren't some of their first blus based on just the Harryhausen name. I guess we'll have to see. I'm hoping for Them! and The Thing From Another World as well.

Didn't TT mention somewhere that they were looking into some more Fox titles and OMY B.C. was one of them? I haven't heard anything about Three Worlds of Gulliver but that one seems to be the most logical to release.

Yes, that is the version I was referring to. It's well worth the price if you have an all-region player and are PAL-capable. It's the best home video version I have yet seen. Depth of color will likely be better on a Blu, but it's a very good version and contains brief (I believe each one runs about 10 mins) interviews with Ray and Raquel as bonus features (no trailer, though).

I was not aware of any word of TT trying to acquire it, but I could have missed that as I am not constantly on this message board. It's a likely candidate for them to release due to being a Fox title, plus it has 3 potential fan bases interested in it: Harryhausen fans, Raquel Welch fans, and Hammer Films fans.

Think it's still one of the Columbia titles on their section of the Warner Archive, so that's a big If, but it certainly "rounds out" Sony's idea of the non-Sinbad Harryhausens at Columbia.

So is there any chance of someone re-releasing a Blu-ray MYSTERIOUS ISLAND?

Also, any rumors of Warner Bros. releasing a Blu-ray THEM!?

CRAIGTHOM:

That sounds about right. If ZARDOZ had really impressed me when I saw it in the 1970s, I would at least have a positive memory of it, but I don't. The only reason I might get it is I'm a big Sean Connery fan.

TCM Shop is currently have a 25% off, 12-hour flash sale that includes TT titles. With no tax and free shipping over $49, that brings titles down to just over $26 each.

yeah, this is a pretty good deal.. wish i could afford more.
I bought The Believers and The Killer Elite for $52.00. It's so odd to say that $50.00 is a good buy for catalog titles!

Off Screen Archives this would have run me close to $70!!!!

Good luck ordering from TCM. They make Screen Archives look like amazon.com in comparison.

what's the issue?

If they're slow that's fine.... as long as I get my order (that apparantly has now been deemed a mistake as the codes do not work on Twilight titles anymore)
