Default UK 10,000 BC - no digital copy

I'm curious as to why the 2 disc DVD set (apparently a limited edition) gets a digital copy of the movie, but the BD release does not? Does anyone know the reason for this?

So what possible reason is there for the UK BD not getting one? It can't be licencing if you can by a 2 disc DVD set in the UK with one.

Once again, we get ripped off.

Yes its Warners, the 2 disc is only for the DVD release, where it is available as a single disc (no extras) and a "limited edition" 2 disc tin (with extras).

It's also the exact same disc! The disc is labeled US/UK and opens with the FBI warning (generally UK discs have local law enforcement warnings, not the FBI).

No code, no insert and no digital copy listed on the casing.

Now, I'm not being funny, but I shouldn't have to wade through pages of internet sites deciding which version of a film to buy. If the studios are serious about Blu-ray going mainstream, they should make sure that (on the whole) they offer the same packages to all regions and countries.

I don't know much about this but there might be some sort of copyright reason since different countries have different copyright laws. Again, just a guess.

We don't care about such useless sh*t in the UK. We'll take a steelbook over a digital copy anyday.

No, it can't be copyright, because as I stated the 2 disc DVD available in the UK has the digital copy. Check out the link in my previous post - you can see the "digital copy" sticker on the tin case.

Actually Sky_Captain, the digital copy for a Blu-ray isn't "sh*t" because as of now, I can't make a copy of Blu-ray's for my Portable Media Player, while anyone and their dog can rip a DVD (rightly or wrongly, the technology is out there and the genie is out of the bottle).

So if anything, giving a digital copy away with the DVD makes much less sense, at least if they gave out digital copies with blu-rays it would perhaps lessen the demand for blu-ray ripping software? So would benefit the studios in the long term?

I'm not promoting piracy, but I use public transport for over 3 hours a day when working, and having copies of films to watch significantly helps to pass the time.

Oh the metal case is pants BTW

Well, like I said, I don't know much about this stuff. Nor do I know much about being 'pants'.

Well, in my case it stops piracy (as I would have no need to find a way of ripping Blu-ray discs in order to put the movie on my portable media player) and I don't care that it's only SD, as it will be on a 240x180 screen anyway.

However, I find the notion that its "utterly stupid" to want to do this a bit offensive. The whole landscape for media usage has changed, and if I buy a Blu-ray movie, I would like to be able to make use of it when travelling if possible. I don't demand this - but when other countries have this priviledge, and even other (may I add "cheaper") formats in the same country do, I don't think it's unreasonable to ask why its missing from the Blu-ray release.

Personally, I buy Blu's for the quality and have completely stopped watching anything of lower quality. I especially don't want to watch things on tiny portable devices. I just don't see the point of buying a Bluray(best quality) and having a lower quality copy with it, plus being forced to pay a higher price because it has the extra copy enclosed. Just my 2 cents.

But has it been established you do pay extra for the digital copy? If not, why not have one?
